Outcomes of side-to-end versus end-to-end colorectal anastomosis in nonemergent sigmoid and rectal cancers: a randomized controlled clinical trial

        Habeeb Tamer A.A.M.,Mohammad Hatem,Wasefy Tamer,Mansour Mohamed Ibrahim 대한대장항문학회 2023 Annals of Coloproctolgy Vol.39 No.3

Purpose: The outcomes of open colorectal anastomosis of side-to-end versus end-to-end in nonemergent sigmoid and rectal cancer surgery in adults were compared. Methods: A randomized controlled trial on individuals with sigmoid and rectal cancers was conducted between September 2016 and September 2018. Results: The mean age was 62.58±12.3 years in the side-to-end anastomotic (SEA) group and 61.03±13.98 years in the end-to-end anastomotic (EEA) group. Except for the operative time, intraoperative data revealed no significant differences between the studied groups, and the SEA group revealed that the mean anastomotic time was significantly shorter. Perioperative blood loss, length of stay, reoperation, inpatient death, infection, and bleeding were significantly associated with leakage. There is a statistically significant change regarding the range of bowel frequency in the EEA group only (P=0.04). There is a statistically significant difference regarding incontinence for flatus in the SEA group only (P≤0.001). A statistically significant change in both groups regards incontinence for liquid stools (P≤0.001) and clustering of stools (P≤0.001 and P=0.043). The quality of life in the SEA group significantly dropped at 6 months and then returned to baseline as regards to physical well-being (PWB), functional well-being (FWB), and colorectal cancer symptoms (CCS) with no difference as regards SWB and EWB, while in the EEA group, the exact change happened only as regard PWB and FWB, but SWB and CCS percentage did not return to baseline. Conclusion: The SEA group offers a safe alternative approach to the EEA group.

Supplementary Event-Listener Injection Attack in Smart Phones

( S. Fouzul Hidhaya ),( Angelina Geetha ),( B. Nandha Kumar ),( Loganathan Venkat Sravanth ),( A. Habeeb ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.10

WebView is a vital component in smartphone platforms like Android, Windows and iOS that enables smartphone applications (apps) to embed a simple yet powerful web browser inside them. WebView not only provides the same functionalities as web browser, it, more importantly, enables a rich interaction between apps and webpages loaded inside the WebView. However, the design and the features of WebView lays path to tamper the sandbox protection mechanism implemented by browsers. As a consequence, malicious attacks can be launched either against the apps or by the apps through the exploitation of WebView APIs. This paper presents a critical attack called Supplementary Event-Listener Injection (SEI) attack which adds auxiliary event listeners, for executing malicious activities, on the HTML elements in the webpage loaded by the WebView via JavaScript Injection. This paper also proposes an automated static analysis system for analyzing WebView embedded apps to classify the kind of vulnerability possessed by them and a solution for the mitigation of the attack.

Synthesis and Quartemization of 6-(Substitutedamino)-Purines with Antitumor Activity Screening

        El-Bayouki, Khairy-A.M.,Basyouni, Wahid-M.,El-Din, S.M.,Habeeb, A.G. The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 1994 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.17 No.2

Reaction of c-chloro-9-benzyl-8-(methylthio)purine 3 with primary amines afforoded, the comesponding 6-(substitutedamino)purines 4a-g. The latter products when methylated with methyl iodide yielded smoothly $N^3$-methyl purinium iodide salts 5a-f rather than the probable $N^1\;and\;N^7$-derivatives. 9-Benzyl-3-methyl-6-(methylmino)-8-(methylthio)purine 8 was obtained upon treating the purinium iodide 5a with alkali. Most of the synthesized compounds were screened for their antitumor activity.

      • Determination of strut efficiency factor for concrete deep beams with and without fibre

        Sandeep, M.S.,Nagarajan, Praveen,Shashikala, A.P.,Habeeb, Shehin A. Techno-Press 2016 Advances in computational design Vol.1 No.3

Based on the variation of strain along the cross section, any region in a structural member can be classified into two regions namely, Bernoulli's region (B-region) and Disturbed region (D-region). Since the variation of strain along the cross section for a B-region is linear, well-developed theories are available for their analysis and design. On the other hand, the design of D-region is carried out based on thumb rules and past experience due to the presence of nonlinear strain distribution. Strut-and-Tie method is a novel approach that can be used for the analysis and design of both B-region as well as D-region with equal importance. The strut efficiency factor (${\beta}_s$) is needed for the design and analysis of concrete members using Strut and Tie method. In this paper, equations for finding ${\beta}_s$ for bottle shaped struts in concrete deep beams (a D-region) with and without steel fibres are developed. The effects of transverse reinforcement on ${\beta}_s$ are also considered. Numerical studies using commercially available finite element software along with limited amount of experimental studies were used to find ${\beta}_s$.

Structural, Electrical and Optical Properties for (Polyvinyl Alcohol–Polyethylene Oxide–Magnesium Oxide) Nanocomposites for Optoelectronics Applications

        Qayssar M. Jebur,Ahmed Hashim,Majeed A. Habeeb 한국전기전자재료학회 2019 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.20 No.4

Preparation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)–polyethylene oxide (PEO)–magnesium oxide (MgO) nanocomposites and studying their structural, AC electrical and optical properties for dielectric and optoelectronic applications have been investigated. The nanocomposites have been fabricated with diff erent concentrations of (PVA–PEO) blend and MgO nanoparticles. The experimental results showed that the dielectric constant, dielectric loss and AC electrical conductivity of (PVA–PEO) blend are increased with the increase in MgO nanoparticles concentrations. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of (PVA–PEO) blend are decreased while the AC electrical conductivity increases with the increase in frequency. The optical measurements are showed that the absorbance of (PVA–PEO–MgO) nanocomposites is increased with increasing of the magnesium oxide nanoparticles concentrations. The indirect energy gap (E g ) of (PVA–PEO) blend decreases with an increase inconcentrations of magnesium oxide nanoparticles. The optical constants as absorption coeffi cient, extinction coeffi cient, refractive index, real and imaginary dielectric constants of nanocomposites are variation with increasing of the magnesium oxide nanoparticles weight percentages.
