The purpose of this study is to analyze the life condition, health condition and awareness of the aged at homes and to find out the plan for theimprovement of qualitative level of welfare service for them. The subjects of this study are the aged who are more than sixty and live in Cheonan. They answered questionnaires and among them 147 questionnaires were chosen and processed for the data. Three hypotheses were formed before the study were started. First, as the aged are healthy, they may have more independent andmore self-supporting lives with sound awareness in aspects of the finance, family and residence. Second, as the aged are healthy and they will live longer, they may want to be employed because they want to plan for their lives again. Third, as the aged are healthy, they may want to study more in order to achieve their goals. The following are the results of this study. First, the result of the family matters was that 57% people have lived with their sons and daughters and among them 81.8% people were satisfied with their lives. 66.9% people answered they have been loved by their sons and daughters. But 45.2% people mostly participated in their family meetings. Though the aged answered they felt satisfied and loved, the result showed they couldn't entirely participated in the decision of their family meetings. So this result may be a little bit different from the real lives. Second, the aged were a little satisfied with their health and medical care. The old women were more satisfied than the old men. 71.7% people answered they wanted to be taken care of by their family, but they were not. Third, many of the aged were in the financial problems. 44.5% people had their financial difficulties, and 70% people got jobs for a living or got allowance from their sons and daughters. Fourth, 75.4% people were satisfied with their residence, and most of them lived in the houses or apartments. 40% people had their own houses or apartments, and 21.9% people had the houses or apartments whose size is less than 20 pyong. Fifth, in the analysis of the awareness attitude, 63.9% people wanted to live with their sons and daughters. It meant that they had awareness structure that is shown in the rural communities even though Cheonan is a small city. The reason the aged wanted to live with their sons and daughters was the health problem. The biggest problem in their old age were health, finance, loneliness, and the family conflict. They wanted to live comfortably in the welfare facilities with some support money from the government. Sixth, in the relation between health condition and reemployment, the aged without the physical handicap wanted to be employed. The lower they had the academic background, the more they were aware of rehabilitation. And old men were aware of that rehabilitation more than old woman. Seventh, even though the aged were not healthy, they wanted to study more in order to achieve their goals if they could. The lower they had academic background, the more they wanted to study. And old women wanted to study more than old men.
