강원대학교 외국인 유학생의 유학생활 실태조사 분석 연구 = A Study on the Living of Foreign Students at Kangwon National University

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 강원대학교 외국인 유학생의 유학실태를 보다 정확히 파악하여 문제점을 발견하고 거기에 대한 개선방안을 모색함으로써 유학생들을 지원할 수 있는 여러 가지 방안을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 다음과 같은 구체적인 연구 문제들이 설정되었다.
첫째. 외국인 유학생들이 한국으로 유학 온 배경과 유학생활에서 발생하는 여러 가지 요구사항을 분석한다.
둘째. 외국인 유학생의 한국 유학생활에 대한 만족도를 분석한다.
셋째. 외국인 유학생의 한국 유학생활에 대한 적응도를 분석한다.
넷째. 외국인 유학생의 한국학생들과의 교류정도를 분석한다.
다섯째. 외국인 유학생들의 유학생활의 문제점을 종합적으로 분석하고 그 개선방안을 모색한다.
이러한 연구문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 연구는 강원대학교 재학 중인 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 설문 조사를 통하여 그들의 유학생활실태를 종합적으로 분석하였다. 강원대학교 재학 중인 총 외국인 유학생 290명 중 140명에게 설문지를 배포하여 그 중 128명으로부터 정보를 수집할 수 있었다. 이중 자료처리에 유효한 설문지는 121부로 회수율은 86.4%였다. 조사도구는 강원대학교 외국인유학생의 유학생활 실태조사 설문지를 선행연구를 바탕으로 본 연구의 문제 해결에 맞게 수정?보완하여 재구성하였다. 응답 결과에 대한 자료 처리는 SPSSWIN 12.0을 이용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 강원대 유학생들은 주로 학교수업 면에서 많은 어려움을 느낀다는 것이다. 이는 언어의 문제와 깊은 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 외국인 유학생들의 한국어 능력에 따라 단계적으로 한국어를 습득할 수 있도록 전문적으로 어학을 관리해주고 진행해 주는 프로그램 시스템이 필요할 뿐 아니라 레포트, 발표, 논문 작성 등 예시학습 프로그램 등을 실시하여야 할 것이다.
둘째, 유학생들은 한국학생과의 교류가 활발하지 않다는 것이다. 외국인유학생들을 위하여 “버디 프로그램” 이나 체계적인 시스템이 필요하다. 특히 신입 유학생들에게 1대1 도우미를 배정해 주면 도움이 될 것이다. 그리고 한국가정 방문 프로그램과 Home Stay제도를 활용할 필요가 있다. 또는 유학생들에게 관련학과 학생들과 유대관계를 맺을 수 있도록 안내해서 동아리 활동을 하도록 지도할 필요가 있다.
셋째, 유학생들은 유학생활 필요한 정보를 필요할 때마다 수집하기가 어려운 편이다. 유학생에게 별도 사이트를 만들어 취직정보와 아르바이트 정보를 제공해 주고, 외국인 유학생들을 위해 유용한 정보를 정기적으로 이메일을 이용하여 제공하는 프로그램을 실시하면 유학생들의 정보수집하기가 보다 더 편리할 것이다.
넷째, 강원대학교 유학생들은 유학생활에 대하여 대체로 만족한 편이다. 다만 유학생회에 대한 만족도가 낮은 편이다. 유학생회에 대한 활성화 대책이 필요하다.
다섯째, 외국인을 위한 장학기금의 확충이 필요하다. 또한 한국 대학교에서 공부하기 때문에 한국어 수능 시험의 성적이 우수한 유학생들도 BEST-KNU 장학제도에 포함시킬 필요가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to understand the living condition of foreign students at Kongwon National University and find ways to improve their studying and living environment. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the following are the concrete processes used to carry out the research.
First, this study analyzes the foreign students' background and various requirements.
Second, this study analyzes the degree of the foreign students' satisfaction with the living in Kangwon National University.
Third, this study analyzes the degree of their adaptability to the living in Kangwon National University.
Fourth, this study analyzes how difficult that the foreign students communicate with Korean students.
Fifth, this study suggests a plan to improve the foreign students' living and studying condition in Kangwon National University.
A questionnaire survey was used to perform this study. The survey was given to 140 foreign students in Kangwon National University. The responses to the questionnaires were analyzed by using frequency analysis, variance analysis with SPSS WIN 12.0. The following are the results of the analysis.
First, the study and language are most difficult to the foreign students. So it needs to practise a program to improve their ability of Korean language. And writing papers, announcement, writing thesis program need to be conducted in advance, too.
Second, the communication with Korean students is not active. It needs to practise "buddy program" and "home stay" program.
Third, it is not convenient for the foreign students to gather information that they need. Therefore, it needs to create an internet site to provide the foreign students information about employment and part-time job. And useful information need to be sent to the foreign students by e-mail.
Fourth, the foreign students are generally satisfied with the living in Kangwon National University. But the degree of satisfaction with the foreign students' association is low.
Fifth, the expansion of the scholarships needs to be desirable. The foreign students who have excellent ability of Korean should be included in BEST-KNU Scholarship.
