공공도서관 역사 문화프로그램 현황 조사 : 서울시를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현재의 공공도서관은 정보 보존과 이용이라는 기본 기능과 더불어 지역사회의 평생교육센터로서 자리 잡고 있다. 공공도서관의 문화 프로그램은 지역사회 발전에 많은 역할을 하고 있으며 다양한 주제로 그 내용도 확대하고 있다. 역사 문화 프로그램은 한 사회의 역사화 문화 인식을 지탱하고 유지시킨다는 측면에서도 공공도서관이 중요하게 바라봐야 하는 프로그램이다.
본 연구는 서울지역 공공도서관에서 운영되는 역사 문화프로그램의 발전방안에 대한 방향을 살펴보고자 하는 연구이다. 이를 위해 먼저 공공도서관이 진행하고 있는 역사 문화 프로그램의 현황을 살펴본 후 현재 진행하고 있는 역사 문화 프로그램을 유형별로 살펴보았으며, 유사한 역사 문화 프로그램을 실행하고 있는 박물관․미술관․문화원의 역사 문화프로그램을 확인하여 특징과 차이점을 비교 분석하였으며 이를 바탕으로 공공도서관의 역사 문화 프로그램의 발전방안을 제시하고자 하였다.
본 연구의 결과로 서울시 공공도서관 및 유관 기관의 역사 문화 프로그램이 진행되는 현황을 살펴보았으며 역사 문화 프로그램의 유형을 주제별, 이용자별, 운영형식별, 기간별로 나누어 프로그램 진행 상황을 세부적으로 비교 분석하였다. 주제별로는 한국사 관련한 프로그램이 가장 많은 비중을 차지하고 있었으며 어린이 이용자를 대상으로 한 프로그램의 비중이 높았다. 주로 통합형 운영형식을 취하며 정기적인 프로그램이 다수를 차지했다.
연구 결과 공공도서관의 역사 문화 프로그램은 어린이와 성인 이외에도 유아 및 노인 이용자 등과 같이 이용자층을 확대하여 균등한 교육기회를 제공할 것으로 판단하였고 또한 직장인 등을 고려하여 온라인, 야간, 주말 등 다양한 시간대에 프로그램을 개설할 필요성도 높다 판단했다. 또한, 본 연구에서 살펴본 박물관·미술관 등 유관기관과의 연계를 통한 통합형 프로그램의 기획과 확대 등을 제안하였으며 역사 문화 프로그램이라는 주제의 특수성과 관련, 매체의 적극적인 활용을 제안하여 이용자와 프로그램의 상호작용을 강조하였다.
본 연구는 지역적으로 서울시에 위치한 기관들로 그 조사를 한정하였기에 그 한계가 존재하며 좀 더 세부적인 분석을 통해 프로그램의 기본 사례 또는 프레임워크를 제시하는 후속 연구 등을 기대해볼 만하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Currently, the public library has become a lifelong learning center of the community with the basic functions of preserving and using information. The cultural programs of public libraries play a major role in the development of the community and are expanding on various topics. The history and culture program is a program that public libraries should consider more importantly in terms of sustaining and maintaining the perception of historical culture of a society.
The purpose of this study is to examine the direction of development of historical and cultural programs operated by public libraries in Seoul. In order to do this, the current status of the history and culture programs being conducted by public libraries was investigated, the current history and culture programs were examined by type, and the history and culture programs of museums, galleries, cultural center were also examined to compare their features.
As a result of this study, the current status of the history and culture programs of public libraries and related institutions in Seoul and the types of historical and cultural programs were examined and analyzed in detail by the thematic, user, operating type and period. In terms of themes, programs related to Korean history were the most important, and the proportion of programs targeting children was high. Most of the programs were operated regularly as integrated forms.
The result of this study shows that the historical and cultural programs of public libraries will be able to provide equal educational opportunities by expanding the user base to a wider population such as infants and elderly users in addition to children and adults. Also, it is necessary to offer the programs on weekends and at nights to embrace office workers who cannot participate during the day. In addition, the study proposes planning and expanding integrated programs through association with museums and art galleries, and suggests the active use of media in relation to the specificity of the theme of historical cultural programs.
The limitation of this study is the investigation is restricted to institutions located in Seoul. Therefore, the follow-up research that examines the basic case or framework of the public libraries’ history and culture programs in more detail is necessary as future research.
