The purpose of this study was to identify a learning content development process in a virtual university.
To achieve the purpose, the following research questions were established;
First, how were human resources for developing learning contents?
Second, what type of learning contents did they developed?
Third, what process did they use to develop learning contents?
Fourth, how did they manage learning contents developed?
To conduct this study, the researcher has gathered data concerning learning contents development, visited the staff members, conducted interviews, with them, and elaborately examined the Web site of the university. Results were as follows;
Firstly, the human resources in charge of developing the contents, though there can be some differences depending on the types of the contents, are almost the same as those in charge of developing general education contents. This university has project managers, prorammers, cameramen, film editors, assitants and other managers.
Secondly, the types of contents developed by S digital university can be classified as a HTML and a Director method. And also there can be some differences depending on study method of whether the contents are produced for Web Based Instruction or for Web Based Compact Disk. These two methods shows contrasts in that they are produced in different ways. But as time goes on, S digital university has showed preference to WBCD contents.
Thirdly, looking into the process of developing contents of S digital university, we can see no difference between its methods and general methods, and professors themselves have participated in the process.
Finally, S digital university makes a subject list and they keep their original contents files. They keep the files as many as 2years in their server computers and CDs as well.
