This study has conducted art therapy on a weak psychological supporting-based child who has had traumatic experience and has not been treated afterwards. this researcher used semi structured approach to minimize chaos in the process and induce an in-depth description of the trauma and as a purpose to observe how psychological supporting-based and internal resources influence and change the child.
For this, this researcher have conducted a case analysis by session based on the recorded information, observed data and finished works after the treatment. After that this researcher recorded the changes of the child stage by stage.
The art therapy program in this study was conducted once or twice a week from March 2017 to September 2017 and the total sessions were 25.
According to the result of the study, the child's changes are as follows.
First, the child with traumatic experience seemed to have gained confidence and reduced frustrated and lethargic behavior from art therapy.
Second, the child with traumatic experience seemed to have formed security and eased anxiety and fear from art therapy.
Third, the child with traumatic experience seemed to have experienced positive feelings and increased positive reactions from art therapy.
Fourth, the child with traumatic experience seemed to have decreased realized stress and enhanced psychological coping ability from art therapy.
Fifth, the child with traumatic experience seemed to have experienced positive relationships and formed internal supporting-based from art therapy.
Through these results, the researcher has concluded that art therapy can have a positive effect on the child with traumatic experience by providing them with internal resources to overcome trauma and form psychological supporting-based.
Recently, there has been an increase in the study of traumatic experience. However, factors which are inducing trauma and subjects in the study are limited. This study is meaningful for observation not a specific variable but a multI-dimensional change in the symptoms expressed in trauma. And this researcher hope it can contribute to the diversification of the art therapy study towards people with traumatic experience.
