사학자의 정보요구와 이용에 관한 연구 : 부산대학교 연구자를 대상으로 = (A) Study on the information need and use behavior of historians : the case of researchers at Pusan national university

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The study examines historians´ needs and uses of information. The subject is confined to historians of Pusan National University(PNU). It analyzes how they satisfy their need of information and how the university library should serve their research. To be more specific, the subjects of this study are faculty members of the History Department and History Education Department as well as Ph.D candidates and part-time lecturers. Historians favor data-centered research. It means that to discover and collect data is very important in the history research. In the case of the History Department of PNU, its department library is used very actively. This study examines how its department library has an effect on history researcher´ demand and use of information and how it is related to the university library. This study´s ultimate goals are to analyze researcher´s demands and uses of information on the basis of their various experiences. The results of this study suggest methods to help support historian´s research as follows. (1) To make sure that the university library performs its proper function, the systematic development of a data collection process for supporting historian´s research is needed and can be done by examining in detail users needs. (2) Library service should include education and advertisement (3) It is necessary to develop a system in which history researchers use data personally and so obtain the data immediately. (4) To give users easy access to data through various and specialized list is as important as its collection.. (5) It is necessary to utilize the classical library more actively through organizing the classification and system of old books which belong to the university library and making a list of it. (6) Extension of library facilities is necessary. (7) Librarian should become more service oriented.
