Edvard Grieg violin sonata No.2 in G major Op.13의 연구 및 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 노르웨이의 대표 작곡가인 에드바르드 그리그(Edvard Hagerup Grieg, 1843-1907)의 바이올린 소나타『Violin Sonata No.2 Op.13』를 다룬다.
오랜 세월동안 덴마크와 스웨덴의 지배로 민족의식이 고갈되어 있던 노르웨이 작곡가들은 낭만주의 음악의 한계를 극복하고 자국민의 의식이 묻어난 음악을 하길 원했다. 그 결과 그들의 작품세계는 민족주의 사조가 주를 이루었고, 이를 가장 잘 표현한 작곡가로 19세기 노르웨이의 대표적인 민족음악가인 그리그를 예로 들 수 있다.
그리그의『Violin Sonata No.2 Op.13』은 1867년 크리스티아나에서 작곡한 세 곡의 바이올린 소나타 중 두 번째 작품으로, 민속적 색채가 강하게 드러나 있는 대표적 작품 중 하나다. 곡은 총 3악장으로 구성되어 있다: 1악장은 소나타 형식으로 서주에서 카덴차로 시작되며, 2악장은 A-B-A’의 3부 형식으로 선율흐름으로 이루어져 있고 각기 다른 네 개의 주제가 등장한다. 3악장은 7부 론도 형식으로, 반음계적 선율로 진행되며, 감 7화음의 대비되는 화성진행이 특징이다.
본 논문에서는 『Violin Sonata No.2 Op.13』에 나타난 그의 작품 세계를 그리그의 생애와 시대적 배경에 따라 알아보고, 작품에서 표현된 민속적 색채와 화성, 리듬을 파악한다. 또한 악장별 분석을 통해 작곡자의 의도를 심도 있게 해석하여 이를 연주에 반영할 수 있도록 돕는다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis deals with Edvard Hagerup Grieg (1843-1907), one of the representative Norwegian composers, and his <Violin Sonata No.2 Op.13>.
The domination by Denmark and Sweden exhausted the national consciousness of Norwegian people. After that period, many of Norwegian composers wanted to overcome the limitation of Romanticism and to compose works that contain the consciousness of their nationals. As a result, the trend of their works became nationalism, which Grieg expressed best – he is referred to as a representative national musician of Norway in the 19th century.
Grieg’s <Violin Sonata No.2 Op.13> is the second one of three violin sonatas that he composed in Christiana in 1867, which is one of the exemplary works that illustrate the color of folklore of Norway. This work comprises three movements in total: in sonata form, the first movement starts with a cadenza in an introduction; the second one has three parts as ‘A-B-A’ and progresses with melodical stream, and each of four different themes turn out; the last movement, the third one, is in rondo form and progresses with chromatic melodies, whose diminished seventh chord is characteristic.
The thesis analyzes the world of Grieg’s works, following his life and time period, and reveals the ethnic color, chord and rhythm out of the work. Furthermore, analyzing by movements and interpreting the intention of the composer, it tries to help players apply these when they play.
