George Friedrich Händel(1685-1759) was one of the composers representing the Baroque period. Although he was born in Germany, he stayed in European countries such as Hamburg, Italy, Hanover, London, and absorbed various music styles and applied it to his music.
Handel composed many vocal works such as operas and oratorios, but he did not actively compose keyboard music.
In most of the suite, there is the ordinary arrangement of the four movements of the Baroque period Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gigue, and there are only two suites that follow the basic movement arrangement.
The thesis examines Handel’s Suite No.5 E Major, HWV 430, which was published in 1720 under Handel's approval. This suite consists of Prelude, Allemande, Courante, Gigue and five variations.
This suite is single composition of the E Major, and the rest of the movement consists of a binary form except for the one-part form, the prelude. Overall, the E Major scale is leading the tune, and the musical scale. Which was presented macroscopically in the Prelude, later became microscopic in the movements, thus giving the whole unity.
In addition, in the use of chords, the chromatic melody is shown by using Secondary diminished 7th chord and Secondary half-diminished 7th chord, and borrowed chord.
<Suite No.5 E Major, HWV 430> which reflects characteristics, Handel’s representative keyboard suite.
