(Abstract)
This study consists of a poetics, 'Looking for the poetry', and 50 researcher's own poems. The poetics considers the way a poet sets out to look for the poetry on the analogy of 'Simudo', a buddhist painting a cowboy looks for an ox.
Simudo is a kind of Seonjonghwa that represents the process of looking for the real self and consists of 10 pieces of poems and pictures. In this study, the process of poetic creation is categorized by 5 steps, observation- discovery- projection-analogy- subversion, and compares the process a poet looks for a poetry with the process a cowboy looks for an ox. Comparative relations are as follows ; between the recognitional course for a cowboy to find an ox and the observation and discovery that needs delicateness, between the course of training the ox and the projection and analogy that draws the essence of the object keenly, between the course of being aware of the unity of the ox and the cowboy and the subversive imagination to see through the hidden other side of the world. As such the moment a poetry, away from a poet, meets a reader was considered with divided process of prosody.
The poem is a way of existence after all. The relation to the world and to the ego. As the cowboy in Simudo can find his ox only when he accomplishes the communication with true himself, a poet can find the essence of real existence when he tries to communicate with his own existence.
The way to a poem is the way to the real self, and vice versa. The poetry is a mystery setting out from and returning to the ego, its entrance and exit identical. Therefore it might be called a poet's lot, as seer and clairvoyant, to work out the mistery.
