- Focusing on Spiritual direction and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
This paper is a study about Spiritual healing resources appeared in
the Tabernacle. Spiritual healing of the Tabernacle is characterized by
spiritual direction and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
Chapter Ⅰ is an introduction. Chapter Ⅱ deals with the features of
spiritual direction. Spiritual direction takes precedence over relationships
with God. But the relationship with God leads to the encounter with
the inner side of man himself. In this respect, Spiritual direction is also
associated with psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
Chapter Ⅲ discusses the features of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. It
deals with concepts of psychoanalysis. Then this paper studies
mourning as a therapeutic process.
Chapter Ⅳ studies the Tabernacle as a resource of spiritual healing.
First, it deals with the symbolic meaning of the wilderness where the
Tabernacle is located. The wilderness symbolizes false self, and is a place
facing itself. And it symbolizes the experience of God as father, mother,
and husband. It is a place of holy space and time. Repetitive rituals are
held there. The wilderness is also a place of spiritual healing for Moses.
The burnt offering is also a place of healing. In the burnt offering,
Israel confronts its pathology and sin through sacrifices. The burnt
offering, the Azazel Goat(scapegoat), and the peace offerings are a
series of mourning processes. The burnt offering also symbolizes the
empathy of God's intense sorrow toward Israel.
The basin symbolizes facing the monster of the human abyss. But It
also means a relief in the womb of God. Through this ritual, Israel
goes from chaos into new creation. The Table of Showbread means the
divine word of God. In particular, the Ten Commandments reveal
spiritual healing. The lampstand symbolizes dreams, fantasies and
parables. These are the resources of spiritual healing. Altar of incense
means the prayers. Prayer that appears in Psalms show the process of
being transformed through the mourning. The Holy of Holies
symbolizes death and resurrection. Facing death causes healing and
transformation.
Through the rituals of the tabernacle Israel was healed. Israel goes to
Canaan. Canaan symbolizes Israel's new life. Thus, the purpose of this
paper is to study the resources of spiritual healing in the Tabernacle.
