The purpose of this study is to find improvements in Korean forensic investigation by comparative analysis of foreign forensic investigation and comparative analysis with Korean forensic investigation. In order to comparatively analyze Korean forensic investigations and forensic cases in foreign countries, a literature review was first conducted.
With the development of science and technology in the 21st century, information communication and digital technology developed in the 21st century are used to secure traffic routes through CCTV (closed-circuit television) and criminal vehicles, and to use the GPS (global positioning system) location tracking service of mobile phones. As a method, it uses a new investigation technique that tracks the criminal's whereabouts.
Scientific investigation (Scientific Investigation), as the word implies, means an investigation using science or an investigation conducted in a scientific way. And forensic investigation incorporating scientific principles is an investigation that reflects the objectivity, certainty, and efficiency of science, and refers to an investigation method that responds to or overcomes the limitations of traditional statements and newspaper-centered investigations.
As a result of analyzing the literature data, the most urgent problem in Korea is that an independent research institute should be established to promote research in the field of forensic science. Compared to other countries, Korea does not have an institution or organization leading forensic science research, so the pace of academic development is inevitably slower than that of other countries.
In the case of the United States, long-term unsolved cases are often resolved through DNA investigation techniques. Among them, the 'DNA genealogy', a state-of-the-art genetic analysis investigation technique, solved the unsolved serial murder case for the first time in 29 years.
Even in Korea, it is necessary to develop more technologies for this DNA investigation technique, which is widely used in developed countries.
Based on these studies, Korea can also make education and research functions independent from practice, so that working institutions can build an environment where they can focus on practice only. In addition, research institutes should develop standards for forensic scientific methods and procedures through continuous exchanges with working-level institutions, and should conduct research
