The library should be quiet, effective, and clear for users‘ intellectual achievement.
Of all, acoustical environment is the most important one in the library.
In these latter days, most library has made the rapid growth of facilities and afforded pleasantness and convenience for users. But, Noises out of facilities itself as well as aging of it debase the quality of acoustical environment and have a bad influence upon users‘ studying.
Firstly, we will research internal and external standard of noise regulation and method of measurement. Then we are going to set a proper standard for acoustical environment in studying room of university or college library.
And then, we will study the influence of noise that comes from the library by measurement.
After that, we will find the improvements of aspect of constructional plan, material and equipment through comparison and analysis among some libraries.
The results are summarized as follows.
First, the noise level of the studying room was high nearby the door, air conditioner and air conditioner room.
Second, when air-conditioner is operated, noise level is higher in the range of 63, 125 Hz than when air-conditioner is not operated. The indoor noise of library exceeds in NC 30 that comes from around 1000Hz. ("library A": NC 60, "library B": NC 45)
Third, the "library A" needs rubber carpet at bottom of air conditioner so as to decrease vibration noise from air conditioner and it needs double door at the door. The “library B” needs a lounge and more studying room.
What is more, it should improve position of outlet of air conditioning, design of a contact surface with the central air conditioning system and finishing materials for prevention of impact noise out of floor. If so, better acoustical environment will be completed.
