The purpose of this study was to find influence of perceived career barriers and happenstance coping skill on career adaptability of college students. The participants of this study were 462(male: 268, female: 194)students sampled from 2 universities in B city. They completed a set of questionnaires consisting of Korean Career Indecision Inventory, Planned Happenstance Career Inventory, and Career Adaptability Scale. All participants were tested by scales mentioned above. The collected data were analyzed by statistical programs.
The results of this study were as follows: First, Perceived career barriers and career adaptability of negative correlation, perceived career barriers and happenstance coping skill are negative correlation, happenstance coping skill and career adaptability was positively correlated in male and female. Second, happenstance coping skill has influenced career adaptability than perceived career barriers in male and female. Third, the indecisive nature, one of sub factor of career barriers, had an negative effect on career adaptability in male. On the other hand, on the sub factors of career barriers had not affect on career adaptability in female.
It should be concluded based on the results of this survey that programs which career adaptability of college students, included a way to lower career barriers, to higher happenstance coping skill in contents of career counseling and course education.
