This study examines the crisis and response methods of taekwondo schools at the time when COVID-19 started targeting leaders who directly manage the field, and learns the process and know-how through in-depth interviews with leaders who have succeeded in overcoming the crisis now that they have entered a relatively stable period. The purpose is to listen and analyze in detail, and to provide basic data for research to prepare for the 2nd and 3rd Corona 19 incidents that our society will face in the future. Participants in this study were selected as Taekwondo instructors who had returned to more than 80% of the trainees compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic and had been operating for more than 5 years at the current location, and were conducted using a drift sampling method used as a qualitative study. did The interview was conducted individually for about 60 minutes from 1:00 to 1 or 2 times for each research participant over the weekend from March 11 to March 26, 2023, centering on a semi-structured questionnaire. In-depth interviews were conducted at the dojang of participants who were stable and could recall crisis cases and ways to overcome them well, and the results were analyzed after collecting data. First, it was mentioned that the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic was the most serious economic crisis due to a cut in income. Specifically, due to the suspension of operation of the Taekwondo gym, trainees were dismissed, and as a result, cases of refund of education expenses and cut-off of income were investigated.
Second, there is a changed class method, quarantine, and disinfection as a response plan for crisis cases caused by COVID-19. Classes were introduced to provide classes for small groups of students, outdoor classes, crisis management system care, non-face-to-face classes, and home training after video production. It was also found that continuous disinfection and quarantine were implemented.
Third, efforts to reinstate trainees who have decreased can be seen in communication and publicity with parents and trainees, and attitudes towards existing trainees. , It gave trust and relief by steadily posting disinfection posts. In addition, flyers and social media promotion were used to attract new students. In order to increase the satisfaction of existing trainees, it was found that weekend special lectures were created to increase the satisfaction of the Taekwondo studio.
In view of the above research results, the categorization of qualitative research is a case of crisis caused by COVID-19 (decrease in trainees, economic crisis), countermeasures for COVID-19 (change in class environment and class method, quarantine and disinfection), and efforts to reinstate ( communication with parents and trainees, video promotion using social media).
Therefore, there is a high possibility that a crisis in Taekwondo school, such as the Corona 19 situation, will occur again, and when the second and third corona occurs, it is necessary to respond appropriately and strengthen the influence to overcome the crisis.
