企業의 社會貢獻에 관한 硏究 : 蔚山大公園의 事例를 中心으로 = (The) research for social contribution of SK corporation : Ulsan Grand park

국문 초록 (Abstract)

기업은 이윤추구를 목적으로 하는 조직임에도 불구하고, 외견상 이윤추구와는 상충되는 것처럼 보이는 사회공헌 활동을 적극적으로 추진해 왔다. 여기서 기업의 사회공헌 활동이란 생산, 판매 등 전통적 기업 활동의 범위를 넘어 사회봉사, 복지, 자선 등 사회 구성원들의 공적 이익증진에 기여하는 활동을 지칭한다. 이윤추구를 목적으로 하는 기업이 이처럼 사회공헌 활동에 참여하는 이유는 무엇인가?
이 연구는 기업의 사회공헌 활동을 울산대공원의 사례를 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다.
SK(주)는 2002년에 1천억 원 규모의 자금을 투자하여 울산대공원 1단계 조성사업을 완료한 후 울산시에 기부한 바 있다. 그뿐 아니라 SK(주)는 올해부터는 다시 울산대공원 2단계 조성사업을 시작하고 있다. SK(주)가 이처럼 울산대공원을 건설하여 기부한 것은 기업의 통상적인 사회공헌 활동의 범위를 크게 뛰어넘는 것이다.
이 연구에서 규명하고자 하는 질문은 다음과 같다. 첫째, SK(주)가 울산대공원 사업을 시작한 동기는 어디에 있는가? 기업의 사회공헌 활동의 동기로는 순수한 이타적(altruistic) 접근, 경영전략적(business focused) 접근, 지역공동체 참여적(community involved) 접근 등을 들수 있다. SK(주)의 울산대공원 사업은 이러한 동기 중 어느 것에 해당되는가?
둘째, SK(주)는 울산대공원 사업을 통해 어떤 효과를 얻게 되었는가? 기업의 사회공헌활동의 모형으로는 엄격 모형(austere model), 가계 모형(household model), 판매자모형(vendor model), 투자 모형(investment model), 시민 모형(civic model), 예술모형(artistic model) 등을 들 수 있다. SK(주)의 울산대공원 사업의 효과는 종합적으로 평가할 때 이중 어느 모형에 해당되는가?
이상의 질문에 대답하기 위해 이 연구는 다음과 같이 구성된다. 2장은 기업의 사회공헌활동을 설명하기 위한 이론적 자원들을 자세하게 소개한 후, 이 연구를 수행하기 위한 분석틀을 구성한다.
3장은 SK(주)가 성장해 온 과정과 사회공헌사업을 간략하게 서술한다.
4장은 SK(주)가 울산대공원을 건설해달라는 울산시의 제안을 받아들이게 된 과정과 울산대 공원의 구체적 건설 과정을 설명하고 있다.
5장은 울산대공원의 건설에 대한 시민 단체와 일반 시민들의 반응을 분석한다. 울산대공원의 건설을 계기로 하여 SK(주)에 대한 울산 시민들의 인식이 어떻게 변화되는지에 초점을 맞춘다.
6장은 이상의 분석을 토대로 하여, SK(주)의 울산대공원 사업이 그 동기와 효과에서 앞의 사회공헌 이론들 중 어느 유형에 속하는지를 판단한다.
결론적으로, 울산대공원 사업은 SK(주)가 이타적 동기에서 시작했지만 지역공동체 참여로 그 동기가 변화되고 있으며, 종합적 효과에서는 사회공헌 활동 자체가 중요한 가치를 지닌 것으로 여기는 예술모형에 속하는 것으로 판단된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Although a corporate aimed to make a good profit, to the contrary, it has done the social contribution activities positively. The social contribution activity is defined as not only typical corporate activities such as the production and sales but also the activities contributing for public profit such as serving the community, welfare and charity.
Why should the corporate contribute for the communities?
As mentioned above, This research want to tell the corporate social contribution in case of Ulsan grand park. SK corporation contributed Ulsan Grand park which has invested \100 billion in the first step construction to Ulsan city. In addition, SK Corporation launched the second step construction on this year. This SK's contribution is out of the typical social contribution activities'range.
This research will define the following questions.
First, What motivation made SK Corporation contribute Ulsan Grand Park?
There must be many kind of motivations of the corporate'social contribution such as a pure altruistic, business focused and community involved motivation. Which the motivation as mentioned above does indicate SK Corporation's contribution?
Secondly, What kind of effect did SK take through Ulsan Grand Park project?
They said there are austere model, household model, vendor model, investment model, civic model and artistic model as the model of the corporate'social contribution. Which model as mentioned above can be fit to Ulsan Grand Park project if we judge synthetically?
This research is consisted of following 6 chapters in order to answer to the 2 questions above.
The second chapter is introducing theoretical background mentioning the corporate social contribution's activity as well as consisting analysis frame due to completion of this research.
The chapter 3 is consisted of SK's history and the social contribution activities.
The chapter 4 is consisted of the reason why SK accept the propose which is asked for building up Ulsan Grand Park by Ulsan city and the project process in detail.
The chapter 5 is analyzing NGO and Ulsan citizen's reactions about the construction of Ulsan Grand Park. This analysis is focusing on that how Ulsan citizen's understanding has been changed through the construction of Ulsan Grand Park.
Based on the analysis from chapter 2 to 5, the chapter 6 reaches a conclusion that which pattern among the social contribution theories as mentioned above can be fit to Ulsan Grand Park project focusing on the motivation and effect of them.
In conclusion, Although Ulsan Grand Park project was launched by the altruistic motivation, the motivation has been changing by joiningof local community.
And it is belong to the artistic model in the synthetic effect.
