IPTV 담론 형성에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

디지털 테크놀로지는 정보사회 담론과 함께 그 위상이 급증하고 있으며, IPTV기술의 등장은 방송과 통신이 융합하는 컨버전스 시대로의 진입이라는 유토피아적 관점에서 이해되고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 대중매체의 뉴스기사에서 테크놀로지인 IPTV에 대한 담론 형성과정을 분석하여 그 안에 내재되어 있는 이데올로기를 밝히고 이러한 과정 속에서 테크노롤지가 신화화 되는 과정을 밝히는 데 있다.
본 논문에서는 이러한 기술에 대한 3가지 철학적 견해를 유토피아적, 디스토피아적, 이데올로기적 관점에서 검토하고, 기술의 규정에 대한 이론들 즉, 기술 결정론과 사회 구성론에 대해서 논의하였다. 이러한 이론적 배경을 바탕으로, 기술과 사회의 관계에 대한 기존 연구들을 검토하였으며 테크놀로지의 신화화 과정과 대중매체와의 관계에 대해서 논의하였다.
IPTV담론에 관해서 대중매체에 나타난 특성을 보도 유형, 국면별 사건/시간/담론 구조, 이항 대립적 차이 등의 3가지 차원으로 나누어서 분석하였다. 분석 결과, IPTV에 대한 담론들은 특히 관련 권력 집단의 이해관계를 반영하는 방향으로 의미를 고착시켜나가면서 다양한 의미를 지닌 ‘신화’를 창출하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러한 담론 형성은 많은 수용자들에게 자연스럽게 받아들여져, 그들의 사회 및 현실 인식에 커다란 영향을 미칠 것으로 이해된다. 또한 이러한 과정 속에서 내재되어 있는 IPTV에 대한 가치관과 인식은 IPTV의 특정 이데올로기에 의해 은폐되고 내재화 되며, 특정시기의 사회적 특성을 반영하는 것으로 나타났다.
이와 같은 분석 결과를 통해, 테크놀로지는 이와 관련된 권력집단에 의해서 ‘유토피아’ 또는 ‘디스토피아’로 표현되거나 의미를 부여받는다. 하지만 이러한 의미 부여는 단순히 이뤄지는 것이 아니며 사회내의 다양한 이데올로기에 의해서 변화하고 내재화된다는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Lately, the rise of IPTV technology is regarded as the entrance of ‘the convergence era'' of broadcasting and telecommunication from a utopian perspective. The purpose of this study is to identify the ideologies that are internalized into the discourse of IPTV and the myth process of technology by analyzing the formation process of discourse on IPTV.
This paper reviewed three kinds of philosophical perspective on technology and discussed the relationship between technology and society in terms of the technological determinism and the social constructionism.
This study analyzed the formation of IPTV discourse in the mass media from three facets including the structural pattern of reporting, the incident - period - discourse structure, and the binary oppositional features. The result of analysis shows that IPTV discourse created the myth of various meanings through its formation process where the media fixed the meaning of stories in particular way, reflecting the interests of related power groups. Furthermore, it was found that its internalized values and understandings on IPTV were concealed and internalized by specific ideologies and then social characteristics of a specific period were reflected.
The finding also says that IPTV technology was given utopian or dystopian meanings by related power groups and that the IPTV discourse was steadily and naturally changed and internalized by a variety of ideologies in its society.
