This paper investigated the effects of resilience on job satisfaction and psychological burnout of vocational counselors, who are working on 'Employment Success Package' program of the Ministry of Labor and Employment. The research questions are the following.
First, what is the effect of resilience of the vocational counselors on their job satisfaction?
Second, what is the effect of resilience of the vocational counselors on their psychological burnout?
To examine these questions, in this paper, I analyzed 206 cases of vocational counselors working for 'Employment Success Package' program in Employment Centers across the country.
Resilience, job satisfaction, and psychological burnout was measured by using Resilience Quotient Test(Kwŏn Su-hyŏn, 2010), Job Description Index(So Hye-chŏng, 2004), and Maslach Burnout Inventory(Park Sŏng-ho, 2001).
For data processing, I practiced 'descriptive statistics analysis', 'correlation analysis', 'regression analysis', and 'multiple regression analysis' by using SPSS 22.0 for window program.
The results of the research are as follows.
First, the overall resilience level of the vocational counselors of the 'Employment Success Package' program is lower than that of general adults. Among the sub-factors, the levels follow this order; cause analytical, empathy, impulse-control, emotion regulation, optimism, self-efficacy and active challenge stands last. As for the job satisfaction of vocational counselors, the result indicates high level of their satisfaction with job itself and the relationship with colleagues and bosses, while exhibiting very low level of promotion and wages.
Also it shows not so high level of psychological burnout, and among the sub-factors, the emotional consumption shows high.
Second, the overall resilience has significantly plus (+) effect on job satisfaction, and its sub-factors such as emotional-regulation and empathy also affect plus on their job satisfaction.
Third, the overall resilience has significantly minus (-) effect on psychological burnout, and its sub-factors, emotional regulation, empathy, and optimism do the minus effect on it.
Through the results, the level of resilience, job satisfaction, and psychological burnout of the vocational counselors working for 'Employment Success Package' could come to light. This research is important for its being the first attempt to investigate the resilience of the vocational counselors. By grasping the effects of the counselors' resilience on their job-satisfacton and psychological burnout, this meaningful research would help boosting the resilience level of the counselors and arranging the institutional plan for it as well.
