국내 정규 미술치료 석사학위 청구논문의 연구 동향 = The Study of Aspects in Thesis of Korean Art Therapy

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국에 미술치료가 도입 된지 10여년이 지난 현재 미술치료에 대한 관심과 필요성의 증가에 따라 미술치료 분야는 신 유망직종으로 떠올랐다. 이러한 시점에서 그동안 발전해온 한국의 미술치료 연구현황에 대해 의문을 품지 않을 수 없다. 그동안 미술치료 연구동향에 관한 연구가 있긴 하였으나 제한적인 대상의 연구동향이며 다른 미술치료관련 연구 분야와 비교하였을 때 이는 매우 미흡한 실정이다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구는 한국 미술치료의 발전현황과 향후 연구 분야의 필요성에 대해 알리고자 국내 개설된 정규 미술치료 석사과정 청구논문을 구조 분석함으로서 2001년부터 2011년 현재까지 발표된 석사학위 청구논문을 각 대학원별 및 연도별 편수를 통계 처리하여 그 동안 미술치료연구가 어떻게 발전되어 왔는지에 대해 살펴보고 논문제목에 나타나는 연구대상과 연구주제를 분류하여 그 다양성과 변화를 파악함으로서 향후 미술치료 연구의 편중되지 않는 발전에 기여하고자 함에 있다.
연구의 기초자료 수집은 국회도서관(http://www.nanet.go.kr/)과 한국교육학술정보원(http://www.riss.kr/)의 인터넷 사이트에서 미술치료로 검색된 정규과정 미술치료 대학원 석사학위 청구논문으로 제한을 두고 자료 수집을 하였으며 21개 대학원 중 아직 청구논문이 발표되지 않은 대학원 한 곳을 제외한 20개 정규 미술치료 석사과정 논문 1083편을 대상으로 연구동향을 알아보았다.
본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 지난 10여 년 동안 한국 미술치료 학계의 연구는 매년 그 수가 급상승 하였는데 2001년 12편의 발표를 시작으로 2002년 34편, 2003년 60편, 2004년 62편에서 2005년 119편의 논문이 발표되면서 상승선을 나타내었다. 2006년에서 2007년도에 잠시 감소되었으나 2008년 정규과정 미술치료 대학원 추가 신설로 다시 증가하여 2010년 177편의 논문이 발표되었다. 이것은 한국 미술치료가 10여 년 동안 수직에 가까운 연구발전 하였음을 보여 준다.
둘째, 미술치료 대상자를 문제유형별로 구분하여 분류하였을 때 일반문제 현상 대상이 172편으로 전체 16%, 비장애일반인 대상이 154편으로 전체 14%의 비율을 보이며 장애인을 대상으로 연구된 미술치료 보다 비장애인을 대상으로 연구된 미술치료가 더 많은 비율로 연구되었음을 알 수 있다.
셋째, 미술치료 연구주제별 구분을 통해 분류하였을 때 정서를 연구주제로 다룬 연구가 총 293편, 전체 20%로 가장 많이 다루어졌으며 다음으로 기타연구, 자아개념-자아존중감이 전체 비율 중 20%를 차지하여 정서부분의 주제와 거의 비슷한 비율로 연구되었다. 이는 현대인의 정서적인 문제와 관련하여 미술치료 또한 정서적인 부분을 많이 연구해왔음을 알 수 있다.
연구자는 본 연구결과가 급성장해온 한국 미술치료학계의 향후 더 발전된 연구방향을 위한 자료가 되었으면 하는 바람이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Ten years after introduction in Korea, art therapy is now spotlighted as a newly emerging type of occupation accompanied with increasing concern and needs for it. At this point of time, it would be timely significant to have doubts about the past and current situation of development for its studies in Korea. Although researches have been carried out into the trends of studies on art therapy in the meantime, they were far more limited in scope and number than other studies related to art therapy. Under these circumstances, this paper is designed to explore the development process and future needs of art therapy studies in Korea with a view to contribute to their progress in a balanced way. For this purpose, a structural analysis was conducted into the number of theses that have been applied for master degree at the regular courses opened by domestic graduate schools from 2001 to 2011. The number of theses by institution and year was counted statistically to see how the studies on art therapy have been hitherto progressed as well as the subjects and topics of the studies were also classified by category to find diversity of and changes in them.
The basic data for this paper were collected from the Internet websites of National Assembly Library (http://www.nanet.go.kr/) and Korea Education & Research Information Service (http://www.riss.kr/) for the theses that have been applied for master degree at the regular courses of graduate schools in the area of art therapy. A total of 1083 theses were put to analysis that were applied for master degree at the regular courses of 20 graduate schools in the area of art therapy excluding one that did not post any information about the number of theses applied for.
The findings of the study could be summed up as follows:
First, for the last decade, the number of studies on art therapy in Korea has recorded a steep increase from 12 in 2001 to 34 in 2002, 60 in 2003, 62 in 2004, to 119 in 2005. After a little decrease in 2006 and 2007, the number started turning around on the upcurve after addition of regular courses for art therapy at graduate schools in 2008, reaching eventually 177 in 2010, an obvious evidence for almost vertical upturn for the period.
Second, divided by sort of problems facing the subjects, 172 theses or 16% of all handled the subjects with general problems of disability while 154 or 14% handled persons without disability, a certain evidence showing that more studies on art therapy have been conducted to the non-disabled subjects than to the disabled ones.
Third, classified by category of the study theme, the biggest number of 293 or 20% of the whole studies dealt with sentiment, and another 20% of studies handled miscellaneous themes and themes of self-concept or -esteem, featuring the aspects that attention was focused mostly on the issue of sentiment in art therapy in reflection of contemporary people's concern for emotional issues.
Latly, it is the writer's wish that this paper may serve as a step stone for further progress of studies on art therapy in Korea that has grown at a steep pace.
