Safty appurtunances on highway for fast vehicles are very important. In this country, concrete barrier, concrete bridge railings, and guard rails can be considered to be the main portions for the safty facilities. In this study, the safty of currently used concrete barriers (New Jersey type and F type) when collapsed by running vehicis was evaluated from the collapse simulation tests. The effect of installing keys and dowels as one of the ways strengthening the bottom parts of concrete barriers were examined with computer simulation test for constant slope shape, which is a new type of concrete barriers. Collapse simulation test for the New Jersey and F type of concrete barriers, currently used for highway bridge fense was performed and the results are converted to the equivalent static loads for structural analysis. It is proposed in this study that the shape and reinforcing patterns of concrete barrier are to be modified to aboid the cantilever parts of deck due to vehicle collapse. Also, the safty of guard rails was examined by NARD, a computer program used for simulation test of concrete barrier facilities
