Though Socketed Piers are often used as foundation of a large bridges, applicable design guidelines suitable for rocks in Korea is not yet established and foreign formulas show much diffrences according to its suggestor. In this study, piers of 40㎝ diameter were installed respectively in soft rock and highly weathered rock and their load bearing behaviour were analyzed from static load test through strain gage measurement. RQD is around 50% and uniaxial compression strength(q_{u}) is about 500㎏/㎠ in soft rock and the ultimate shaft resistance(q_{su}) is about 8㎏/㎠. Bearing capacity formulus applicable for the pier socketed into a depth of 1D or deeper was presented. Uniaxial compression strength from point load test is of 100~300㎏/㎠ range and elastic modulus from pressuremeter test is of 700~4000㎏/㎠ range in weathered rock. Allowable side resistance(q_{sa}) is of 0.78~1.11㎏/㎠ range and allowable end resistance is of 16~54㎏/㎠ range by Davisson's method. It is determined that self-support of borehole be important criterion to inclusion of side resistance.
