'호모 후마니타스'의 사생학 - 융합인문학의 확산과 공유의 관점에서 -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The objectives of 'Homo Humanitas Thanatology (Well-be-dying)' study are, first, to come out Korean thanatology paradigm which is socially returnable and pro-populism by concentrating on dialectical relationship between them, deducing in-depth and convergent insight on phenomenon of them, and boundary beyond theology & practice. Second, The research focuses on death meaning as life origin by propelling convergent and recursive education paradigm. Third, The research focused not on articulately logical method divided into natural(medical science) & cultural science, but mutually cultural ethos and code of oriental(Korea, Japan, China) and western(America, Germany) countries so that it can be built topographical map on integrated meta-thanatology of new cultural & medical sciences satisfied with social necessity.
Homo Humanitas Thanatology can be a new academic system to pursue overall insight and oneness toward and life phenomenon through convergent exploration of natural & cultural sciences. By suggesting oriental and western topographical map of socially returnable and pro-populism after transcending boundary between theology & practice, The research examined spectrum of research agenda classified with theology, phenomenon & practice on purpose of building social & cultural discussion space and infrastructure.
In theoretical analysis area, The goal was to gather, analyze and synthesize previous theory systems. A reality is that current Korean society is definitely lack of realistic recognition on life, human dignity, and death. This is embossing more necessity of thanatology and why establishment of Korean thanatology should be desperately required. To achieve this, it was analyzed precedent-search trends on thanatology and prepare for theological groundwork of thanatology by arranging data. It was explored necessity and satisfaction with convergent thanatology of cultural & medical sciences and cultural mentality about death in structural view and highlighted death diachronic and synchronically through prism as genealogy of death.
In phenomenon analysis area, explored issues were medical and biological viewpoint and accepted convergent methods of cultural science with various angles based on related data and theological system. It was new ground toward cultural discussion that analyze phenomenon of both in science & medical aspects and let people have right recognition on death beyond independent and articulated concept regulation as cultural & natural sciences.
In practice application area, a project for convergent cultural science was developed in order to embody new thanatology discussion community environment base on deduced outcome in analysis of theory and phenomenon. These activities can be process of expanding issue personal issues in the past macroscopic dimension.
The core point of the research for the first phase is 'education for death preparation.' Through this, it is demanded to establish new medical ethics and thanatology satisfied with the spirit of the times that the public recognize and require upon technological change of medical & life sciences, medical care and to educate it. For a long term study , it is suggested to establish institution for professionals and to apply to regular subject school education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 ‘호모 후마니타스 사생학’ 사업팀의 연구 목적은 첫째, 죽음과 삶의 변증관계에 주목하면서 죽음과 생명 현상에 대한 심층적이고 융합적인 통찰을 이끌어내고, 이론과 실천 영역을 탈경계화함으로써 사회환원적이고 친대중적인 한국적 사생학 패러다임을 도출하고자 하였다. 둘째, 삶과 죽음에 대한 융합적이고 선순환적인 교육 패러다임을 모색하여 생명의 본원으로서의 죽음의 의미를 총체적으로 파악하고자 하였다. 셋째, 자연과학(의학)과 인문과학으로 나누는 분절적 논리 방식을 지양하고, 동(한국, 일본, 중국)/서(미국, 독일)의 상호문화적 에토스와 문화코드에 주목하여 시대정신과 사회적 필요성에 부응하는 새로운 인문과 의과학의 융합적 메타사생학 지형도를 구축하는 데 역점을 두었다.
호모 후마니타스 사생학은 인문학과 자연과학의 융합적 탐구를 통해 죽음과 삶, 그리고 생명 현상에 대한 총체적인 통찰과 통일성을 지향하고자 하는 새로운 학문 체계라 할 수 있다. 이론과 실천 영역을 탈경계화하여 사회 환원적이고 친대중적인 동서양의 사생관 지형도를 제시함으로써 사회 문화적인 담론 공간과 인프라를 구축하려는 의도에서 연구 아젠다의 스펙트럼을 이론, 현상, 실천 세 범주로 나누어 검토하였다.
첫째, 이론 분석 영역에서는 1차적으로 삶과 죽음에 대한 기존의 이론 체계를 수집․분석․종합하는 것에 목표를 두었다. 오늘날의 한국사회는 생명과 인간 존엄, 죽음에 대한 현실적 인식이 절대적으로 부족한 실정이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 현실은 사생학의 필요성을 더욱 부각시키고 있으며, 한국적 사생학 정립이 절실히 요청되는 이유이다. 이를 위해 국내외에서 이루어져 온 사생학 관련 선행 연구 동향을 파악하고, 수집된 자료를 정리하여 사생학의 이론적 토대를 마련하고자 하였다. 인문과 의과학의 융합적 사생학의 필요 충분성과 죽음에 대한 문화적 멘탈리티를 구조적인 시각에서 탐색했으며, 죽음의 계보학이라는 프리즘을 통해 죽음을 통․공시적으로 조망하였다.
둘째, 현상 분석 범주에서는 관련 자료 수집 및 이론 체계 분석을 토대로 의학적․생물학적 관점에서 삶과 죽음에 대한 문제를 탐구하고 인문․과학의 융합적 방법을 다각도로 수용하였다. 인문학이나 자연과학이라는 독립되고 분절적인 개념 규정에서 벗어나 과학과 의학적 측면에서 생명과 죽음 현상을 분석하여 죽음에 대한 올바른 인식을 갖게 하는 인문 담론으로 지평을 넓혀가고자 하였다. 예를 들면, 자살을 사회심리학적 시각에서 접근하여 생과 사의 관장 주체의 시대 변화 추이를 추적했으며, 안락사, 장기이식, 인간복제, 뇌사 등을 포함한 죽음 현상 일반에 대한 의과학적 담론 양상을 파악하고자 하였다.
셋째, 실천 응용 영역에서는 이론과 현상 분석에서 도출된 결과를 바탕으로 새로운 사생학 담론 커뮤니티 환경을 구현하기 위한 융합인문학의 프로젝트를 개발하는 데 역점을 두었다. 이러한 활동은 과거 개인의 문제에만 국한되었던 삶과 죽음의 문제를 거시적인 차원으로 확장시키려는 과정이라 할 수 있을 것이다. 사생학 연구의 중심을 공동체 전체의 삶의 질과 조화를 중시하는 방향으로 전환하여 융합적 관점의 사생학 대중화를 위한 구체적인 실천 방안을 모색하는 데 역점을 두었다.
