Reinforced concrete is in general known as high durability construction material due to strong alkalinity of cement. However, marine concretes as well as concrete with seasand used for fine aggregate are exposed to detrimental saltwaters, which cause to accelerate corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete. If corrosion resistance of concrete gets to weaken due to carbonations and cracks in cover concrete, concrete durability rapidly decreases due to corrosion of reinforcement steel embedded in concrete. This research is categorized into three(3) tasks for the development of corrosion protection systems for reinforcing steel in corrosion inhibitors and to evaluate their corrosion resistance in concrete mixed with seasand. Task 2 is to experimentally evaluate resistance of various corrosion inhibitors in concrete made with seasand and marine concrete. Finally, task 3 is to evaluate the effect of corrosion protection systems for reinforcing of in-site marine concrete structures and existing - building structures with seasand. The objective of this study is to develop appropriate corrosion protection systems so as to enhance the durability of concrete by plastering impregnant corrosion inhibitors on the surface of concrete made with marine sand for fine aggregate or by using corrosion inhibitors as concrete admixtures.
