The paper aims to research the methods of restoration and management for the historic walled townscape, Buyoo, the royal castle city of the Baekje dynasty. The city has a lot of ancient remains built in about 670s including inner royal palace, road networks, temples, forts, residential districts, and outer mountain walls for military defense. But lately the city has been confronted various development pressures caused by its growth and the increased consciousness for right of private property. In addition to them, the citizens have discontent for regional disparity gradually magnified by the long period regulation for the purpose of the old city conservation from 1960s. In spite of the situation, the government has no alternative except to look on the ressure aking in the city planning. Not a few of the 1980s' archaeological digging results has been interpreted until recent for the spatial structures and the period of years of construction of the city. But also, the city renovation plans has been propelled by the local government. Thus, the paper searches the relevant ideas and methods of the advanced cases for the city renovation and its historic landscape conservation. Some ideas including relevant law and code, subsidy and compensation policies, city plans, and architectural techniques are suggested here.
