"Study on the creative backgrounds and characteristics of the Travel Sijo"

As a part of investigating the genre characteristics, this paper examined the concept, category, creative backgrounds, structure and the expressional features of the Kihaeng Sijo (Travel Sijo). The concept of the Travel Sijo could defined as recited the travel experience, knowledge, and the impressions.
Travel Sijo is mainly written and sung in the situations, such as being inspired by the excellent scenery, being deeply moved by the exploring the ruins, enjoying the refinements, feeling the traveler’s melancholy. And this is closely related to the contents of the work.
Also the types of Travel Sijo could be classified, such as ‘purpose and motive of the travel + travel course․type + retrospect’, ‘itinerary + view of destination․feeling․act in the destination + impression’, ‘introducing the concrete itinerary’ and et cetera. The characteristics of Travel Sijo are described as the expression on the itinerary, the realistic and concrete description, the independence of the scene, the emotional monolog, and the expression of the condensed sentiment.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

<기행시조의 창작 배경 및 특성 연구>
기행시조의 장르적 특성을 구명하는 작업의 일환으로, 본고는 기행시조의 개념 및 범주, 창작 배경, 구성 및 표현상의 특성 등을 살펴보았다. 기행시조의 개념은 ‘여행 중의 체험이나 견문, 감회 등을 읊은 시조’로 규정하였다.
기행시조가 주로 창작되고 불리는 상황은 승경처(勝景處)에서 감흥이 일 때, 유적(遺蹟) 답사 후 감회가 생길 때, 풍류(風流)를 즐길 때, 객회(客懷)를 느낄 때 등이며 이는 작품의 내용과 밀접하게 관련된다.
또한 기행시조의 유형을 ‘여행의 목적․동기+여행 과정․형태+감회’, ‘여정+목적지의 경관․느낌․목적지에서의 행위+소회’, ‘구체적 여정(旅情) 소개’ 등으로 분류하였다. 기행시조의 특성으로는 여정(旅程)을 나타내는 표현, 사실적․구체적 묘사, 장면의 독립, 주정적(主情的) 독백(獨白) 및 응축된 정서 표출 등을 들 수 있다.
이를 통해 기행시조는 여타 시조에 비해 객관적 사실에 대한 전언(傳言)이 많이 나타나지만,
궁극적으로는 작가의 정감이나 정서 표현을 지향한다는 점과 즉흥성과 현장성을 띠고 있음을 알 수 있다.
