중국인의 체면유형에 대한 실증연구 = A practical study of the Chinese face types

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The main purpose of the thesis is to understand the Chinese's view of face. This study is to find out the correlation between the Chinese's 'demographic factors' and each two face factors(‘face in open space/with people’, social/moral face). It also analyzes and verifies the impact of 'demographic factors' among ‘face in open space/with people’ and ‘moral/social face’.
The results of this study shows that most people are hostile to lose face in front of unfamiliar people irrespective of sex. Plus, the men is more concerned with the ‘face with people’ than the ‘face in open space’, whereas the women is more concerned with the ‘closed social face’.
The thesis also covers that the older group is relatively hostile to lose face in front of people. In other words, they more pay attention to protect their face as a self-defense. This study found that Chinese people attach great importance to 'the moral face' regardless of age or sex. Chinese people are very sensitive to the human duty that most people tend to follow.
