In relation to a practical application of reactive dyes to the printing of artificial goods, dyeing experiments with some selected Procion and Remazol dyes were attempted. Both dyes may be printed on cellulose fibers, when treated in a cold dilute caustic soda solution prior to printing, to give very fast and bright colorations. In the printing of such goods it is not necessary to add bicarbonate to the Procion print paste, and the steaming process is prefarable and more practical. for both dyes CMC thickening brings about also satisfactory results: in the soaping process the use of certain home-made synthetic detergents instead of th recommended agents lead to good results.
