This study was performed to improve the accuracy of runoff prediction of an orographic basin by the storage-function model for the effective flood control work. So, the basic principle and characteristics of the model were reviewed. And the storage-function model was applied to the flood-runoff prediction of upstream area of Namgang basins and channels were collectively examined and a suitable one was selected. And the base flow of each subbasin was estimated from the measured rainfall-runoff data and the empirical results of other basins. The results of sensitivity analysis for storage-function coefficients were reviewed and the model coefficients for each subbasins were estimated from the observed data. With the estimated coefficients and base flow equations belong to the storage function model, the existing storage function model was supplemented. The confidence of the modified model was checked by application of old model and modified one to the existing flood events data. From the results of the test, the modified model showed more accurate flood-runoff prediction than the existing one.
