This study aims to derive destination image-related items by utilizing social photo data as a type of big data. To supplement the limitations of research related to generalization due to time constraints and insufficient sample size in traditional destination scale development research methods, this study extracted photo-related data uploaded on photo-sharing sites and used LDA analysis to derive a group of tourism destination image items. The analyzed photo data targeted photos including the keywords 'Incheon Travel' and 'Incheon Tourism' uploaded on Instagram from June 2016 to June 2022, and the Level 3 (description text) data of the photo data containing rich information was used for the analysis. As results, seven themes that form the image of Incheon in the photo data were derived: 'Food exploration', 'Beach and nearby travel', 'Beauty and hobby activities', 'Everyday and parenting activities', 'Vacation', 'Hot places and tourist attractions travel', and 'Anniversary event activities'. Theoretical and practical implications obtained through the derivation of tourism destination image using social photo data were discussed.
