개혁신학의 관점으로 평가한 진화 창조론: 우종학, 『과학시대의 도전과 기독교의 응답』을 중심으로 = A Reformed Critique of Evolutionary Creationism: Focusing on Jong-Hak Woo, Challenges of the Scientific Age and Christian Responses

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우종학, 『과학시대의 도전과 기독교의 응답』에 제시된 진화 창조론은 과학의 연구 결과를 “일반계시”와 혼동하는 오류를 보여주고, 다윈주의 진화론과 자연주의의 틀에 너무 매여 있기 때문에 반기독교적 세계관을 내포하고 있으며, 주요 교리에 있어서 전통적 개혁신학의 가르침과 심각한 불협화음을 일으키기에 개혁신학이 받아들일 수 없다.
첫째, 우종학은 성경이 특별계시라고 한다면, 자연과학의 발견들은 일반계시라고 주장한다. 이것은 심각한 개념적 오류이다. 그의 진화 창조론은 이런 근본적인 혼동에서부터 출발함으로써 점차로 잘못된 논변으로 나아가고 있다. 그는 과학자를 마치 일반계시의 설명자로 보고 있는데, 이것은 전통적 개혁신학의 가르침과 전혀 다른 주장이다. 일반계시에 대한 가장 적절한 설명은 특별계시인 성경이기 때문이다.
둘째, 우종학의 진화 창조론은 다윈주의 진화론과 자연주의의 틀에 너무 매여 있는 경향성이 있다. 그가 비록 신(新)무신론을 비판하긴 하지만, 창조과학을 비판하는 지점에 가서는 거의 신(新)무신론과 다를 바 없는 입장을 전개한다. 이것은 논리적 모순일 뿐 아니라, 자연주의적이며 반기독교적인 세계관에 빠질 위험이 있다.
셋째, 우종학의 진화 창조론은 기독교의 주요 교리와 조화되기 힘들다. 그의 진화 창조론은 전통적 개혁신학의 아담과 언약에 대한 가르침을 왜곡시키며, 그로 인하여 원죄론은 설 자리가 없게 되고, 구원론 역시 타격을 받게 된다. 또한, 신론에 있어서는 이신론과 범신론을 왔다갔다 하며, 인간이 하나님의 형상이라는 가르침 역시 침해당한다. 이상과 같은 이유로, 전통적 개혁신학은 우종학, 『과학시대의 도전과 기독교의 응답』에 제시된 진화 창조론을 받아들일 수 없다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The evolutionary creationism presented in Jong-Hak Woo’s Challenges of the Scientific Age and Christian Responses is unacceptable in Reformed theology because his theory shows the errors of confusing the results of science with “general revelation,” includes an anti-Christian worldview that is too attached to the Darwinian theory of evolution and naturalism, and discords seriously with major doctrines of the traditional Reformed theology.
First, Jong-Hak Woo claims that the discoveries of natural science are general revelation, if the Bible is special revelation. This is a serious conceptual error. His evolutionary creationism, starting from this fundamental confusion, gradually moves on to the wrong argument. He regards a scientist as a describer of general revelation, which is an entirely different argument from the teachings of traditional Reformed theology. The most appropriate explanation for general revelation is found in the Bible which is special revelation.
Second, the evolutionary creationism of Jong-Hak Woo has a tendency to be affiliated too much with the Darwinian theory of evolution and naturalism. Though he criticizes New Atheism, he formulates arguments that are very similar to New Atheism when he criticizes Creation Science. This not only is a logical contradiction but has the risk of falling into a naturalistic and anti-Christian worldview.
Third, it is difficult for Jong-Hak Woo’s evolutionary creationism to harmonize with the major doctrines of Christianity. His evolutionary creationism distorts traditional Reformed doctrines of Adam and covenant, and in so doing loses a proper place for the doctrine of original sin and strikes a blow to soteriology. Additionally, in the doctrine of God, it goes back and forth between deism and pantheism and also damages the doctrine that the human being is the image of God.
For these reasons, traditional Reformed theology should not accept the evolutionary creationism formulated in Jong-Hak Woo’s Challenges of the Scientific Age and Christian Responses.
