The 21st century is a new era, when social organization, culture, and living order will be newly formed. The world is preparing for the new era. We face political, social, and cultural crises due to onrushing foreign cultures and economic reshuffles owing to IMF bailout. At this crucial period, we, Korean people, need to be wise in order to overcome the crises and to plan the future. The most important thing is knowing ourselves: we should know our culture, tradition and history. We need to find out the national spirit among them. Korean basic traditional spirit is the golden mean and has universal and practical chracteristics. The warrior's code of conduct was emphasized, but our ancestors didn't lean to the force: Morality of filial respect was developed into the national morality, and they tried to develop it into worldwide human beings' morality. We should learn our ancestor's valuable thoughts and develop them into the energy making much for the prosperity of our nation and the world.
