일반논문 : 대학의 전공 연계 글쓰기 교육에 관한 고찰 = Suggestions on WAC writing in colleges

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 현재 대학 글쓰기 교육에서 중요한 논점이 되고 있는 전공 연계글쓰기 교육의 현황과 문제점들을 검토하여, 이를 바탕으로 앞으로의 대학 글쓰기 교육이 지향할 방향에 맞춘 전공 연계 글쓰기 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 이를 위하여 대학 글쓰기 교육과 관련된 제반 상황을 살펴보고 대학 글쓰기 교육에서 현재 중점을 두고 있는 학술적 글쓰기의 성격을 규명하였다. 학술적 글쓰기가 학문적 담화 공동체의 글쓰기 규약에 기반을 둔 글쓰기라고 할 때 전공과목과의 연계성 문제가 발생한다. 또한 이 문제는 현재 실행되고 있는 대학의 계열별 글쓰기 교육의 방향과도 연관을 맺는다. 글쓰기의 계열별 교육 시도는 유의미하나 계열 내의 세부 전공들의 담론을 모두 포함하기에는 무리가 있다. 따라서 현실적인 전공 글쓰기 교육을 위해서 크게 세 가지의 전공 연계 교육 방안을 제시하였다. 첫째 전공 관련 주제를 중심으로 한 전공 연계 교육이다. MIT대학이나 하버드대학의 예를 참고하여 전공과 관련된 글쓰기 주제를 다루는 과목을 개설할 수 있다. 둘째는 특정 전공과목의 심화 글쓰기 교육 방안으로, 현실적 요구를 바탕으로 한 실용적 글쓰기 교육을 실행하는 것이다. 셋째는 사회의 변화에 따라 융합 학문으로 관심을 돌린 대학의 교육 방향에 맞춘 통합적 전공 연계 글쓰기 수업의 시도이다. 이 세 가지 교육 방안은 각 대학의 학제별 전공 구성을 고려하여 글쓰기 교수자, 전공교수들과의 협의를 통해 부분적 혹은 전체적으로 도입될 수 있다. 또한 세 가지 방안은 대학별 학제 구성과 세부 전공에서 필요로 하는 글쓰기 유형에 대한 조사, 전공교수들과의 협의를 통하여 구체적으로 실현될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to investigate the current college writing systems, and suggests the three alternatives for WAC based on the new trends of college education and knowledge convergence age. For this study, the overall writing systems and writing situations of college has been considered, and the feature of the ``academic writing`` has been examined. If academic writing is based on regulations and styles of its academic discourse community, it is also related with major course writing. The field writing education which is ongoing in colleges, has several problems including its ambiguities in terms of academic character. To solve those problems, three kinds of methods in writing classes are suggested. First, in WAC writing classes, various topics that related to various academic fields can be discussed instead of practicing just a couple of types of academic writings. Second, writing intensive classes for intrinsic writings can be carried on. Third, major convergence writing classes can be carried on for students who are asked to be multi-players in their work after graduations. For detailed class settings, collaborative work with professors in each majors is essential.
