부모의 심리적 통제와 아동의 공격성의 관계에서 아동의 기본심리욕구 충족의 매개효과 = The Mediating Effects of Children's Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction in the Relationship between Parental Psychological Control and Children's Aggression

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 아동기의 공격성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하고자 부모의 심리적 통제와 기본심리욕구 충족을 선정하여 이들의 관계를 확인하였고, 부모의 심리적 통제가 기본심리욕구 충족을 매개로 공격성에 영향을 미치는 경로를 검증하였다.
이를 위하여 서울시에 위치한 5개의 초등학교에 재학 중인 5, 6학년 남자 아동 243명과 여자 아동 252명을 포함하는 총 495명을 대상으로 부모의 심리적 통제 척도(PCS-YSR), 아동의 기본심리욕구 척도(CINSS), 아동의 공격성 척도를 사용하여 자료를 수집하였다.
수집된 자료를 바탕으로 SPSS 19.0 통계프로그램을 사용하여 전체 연구 대상자의 일반적 특성을 추정하기 위해 각 요인의 빈도수와 백분율과 측정도구의 신뢰도 검증을 위한 Cronbach α 계수 산출을 실시하였다. 또한, 각 변인 간의 상관관계를 측정하기 위해 Pearson 상관분석과 부모의 심리적 통제가 공격성에 미치는 영향에 대한 기본심리욕구 충족의 매개 효과를 확인하기 위하여 Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 방법론에 근거한 3단계 매개효과 검증과 Sobel Test를 실시하여 효과의 유의성을 검증하였다.

본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 초등학생 5, 6학년을 대상으로 부모의 심리적 통제, 아동의 기본심리욕구 충족 및 공격성 간의 관련성을 파악하기 위해 요인 간의 상관분석을 실시한 결과 부모의 심리적 통제와 아동의 공격성 및 기본심리욕구충족의 상관은 모두 유의미 하였고, 부모의 심리적 통제와 아동의 공격성은 정적 상관을 나타냈으며, 아동의 기본심리욕구 충족은 부모의 심리적 통제 및 아동의 공격성과 부적 상관을 보이는 것으로 확인하였다.
둘째, 부와 모의 심리적 통제와 아동의 공격성의 관계에서 아동의 기본심리욕구 충족의 매개효과는 유의미하였으며, 아동의 기본심리욕구 충족이 부분 매개하고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 부모의 심리적 통제 각각의 영향력을 알아보기 위하여 부와 모의 심리적 통제의 영향력을 나누어 살펴 본 결과 모두 아동의 기본심리욕구 충족을 매개로 하여 공격성에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 부모의 심리적 통제와 아동의 공격성의 관계에서 아동의 기본심리욕구의 하위요인인 자율성, 관계성, 유능감 충족의 매개효과를 살펴 본 결과 각 하위요인이 부분매개 하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 기본심리욕구의 하위요인 가운데 관계성 충족의 매개효과가 가장 높게 나타났으며, 다음으로 유능감 충족의 매개효과가 높게 나타난 반면 자율성 충족의 매개효과는 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다.

본 연구는 부모의 긍정적 양육행동을 통한 아동의 기본심리욕구 충족의 중요성과 긍정적인 관계 안에서 유능감을 경험하는 것이 아동기의 심리적 성장과 사회적 적응에 기여한다는 사실을 확인하였다.
이는 아동의 공격성을 감소시키기 위하여 긍정적인 부모의 양육행동과 아동의 기본 심리적 욕구를 충족시키기 위한 가정 및 사회의 노력을 제안할 수 있는 기초자료로 활용 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

This study verified the selected the psychological control and satisfaction of basic psychological needs of parents to identify the factors that affect the aggression of children to verify the their relation. The path through which the psychological control of the parents affects the aggression of the children through the mediation of satisfaction of basic psychological needs was verified.
For this, 234 male students and 252 female students enrolled in fifth and sixth grades of five elementary schools located in Seoul City were selected as subjects of the study. The parents of these 495 students were studied using Psychological Control Scale-Youth Self-Report (PCS-YSR), Children's Intrinsic Needs Satisfaction (CINSS), and child aggression scale to collect data.
Based on the collected data, SPSS 19.0 program was used to estimate the general characteristics of the subjects. The frequency of each factor, the percentage and verification of the confidence in the measurement tools were analyzed by calculating Cronbach α coefficient. In order to measure the correlation between each variable, Pearson’s correlation analysis was conducted. In order to verify the mediating effect of children's basic psychological needs satisfaction in the effect of parental psychological control had on aggression, the three phase mediation effect verification based on the methodology of Baron and Kenny(1986) and the Sobel Test were conducted to verify the significance of the effect.

The findings of this study can be summarized as follows.
First, in order to identify the relation between parental psychological control, children's basic psychological needs satisfaction and the children's aggression, a correlation analysis was conducted for subjects in fifth and sixth grades of elementary school, the correlation between parental psychological control and children's aggression and children's basic psychological needs satisfaction were all significant. There was a positive correlation between parental psychological control and children's aggression, while there was a negative correlation between the children's basic psychological needs satisfaction and parental psychological control as well as the children's aggression.
Second, there was a significant mediating effect of children's basic psychological needs satisfaction in the relation between parental psychological control and children's aggression. It was confirmed that children's basic psychological needs satisfaction had a partially mediating effect. In order to identify the effect of the psychological control of the mother and the father, the effects were reviewed separately. Both parental psychological control had a significant effect on children's aggression through the mediation of children's basic psychological needs satisfaction.
Third, in the relation between parental psychological control and children's aggression, the mediating effects of autonomy, relatedness and competence, which are sub-factors of children's basic psychological needs satisfaction were reviewed. Each sub-factor was verified to have a partially mediating effect. In particular, of the sub-factors of basic psychological needs, the mediating effect of relatedness satisfaction was the greatest, followed by the mediating effect of satisfying competence, whereas the mediating effect of autonomy was relatively lower.

This study verified that importance of children's basic psychological needs satisfaction through positive child-rearing behavior of the parents, as well as the fact that experiencing competence within a positive relation contributes to the psychological growth and social adjustment of the child. This study is expected to provide a basic set of data that can suggest improved efforts from family and society to children's basic psychological needs satisfaction and promote appropriate child-rearing behavior from parents.
