한국의 그림시장과 그림가격 = Art Market and the Determinants of Art Prices in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국 그림시장에서 가장 중요한 그림가격의 결정요인은 작가와 작품크기이다. 작품성도 중 요 요인이라고 인정하고 있지만 계량화가 어렵기 때문에 분석모형에 이용하는 것은 거의 불가능하다. 본 연구에서는 경매시장에서 거래빈도가 가장 많은 작가 23명을 선정하여 작가 와 작품크기가 구체적으로 어떤 모습으로 가격에 영향을 미치고 있는지를 분석하였다 분석 결과 개인 작가 또는 일정 수의 작가군에 고유가격이 존재한다는 것은 실증적으로 확인하 였다. 즉, 작가 프리미엄은 그림가격의 매우 중요한 요소임에 틀림없었다. 그림의 크기도 그 림가격을 결정하는 중요 요인이었다. 그런데 가격과 크기의 관계는 작가별로 차이가 있었다. 박수근의 작품가는 크기에 가중치가 붙어서 크기보다 가격이 더 빠르게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다 반면 그 외 22명의 작가는 크기에 따른 디스카운트 효과가 있었다. 즉, 가격 상 승은 크기 증가에 미처 따라가지 못했다. 규칙적인 것은 아니지만 이런 현상은 작가 프리미 엄이 낮은 작가에서 더 현저하게 나타났다 유화와 수채화로 나누었을 때는 수채화의 경우 에 디스카운트 효과가 더 컸다. 2006년과 2007년을 비교했을 때는 그림시장이 매우 활황이 었던 2007년에 디스카운트 효과가 적었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyses the determinants of art prices in the Korean art market focusing on modern paintings. Among several determinants, this paper focuses on the effects of author and size of paintings on price in more detailed aspects. Author effects appear to exist. Especially, Park Sookeun, regarded as the most famous painter in Korea, has strongest author premium and size effect, out of 23 painters of the sample. The price of his artwork is significantly higher than others. The size elasticity of price is higher than 1 for him only while it is smaller than 1 for all other painters. The price of his artwork rises faster than their size grows. The rest of the authors also have their own premium, not only individually, but also with some other authors together. Size effects are different according to authors. It is likely that the author of higher price has higher size effects. Different kind of paintings and different period of trade also seem to have different size effects.
