In this study, When CFRP composite laminates involved difference of stacking sequences and kinds of matrices are subjected to transverse impact, An experimental study was performed by observing the following items; a) interrelations between the impact energy vs. delamination area vs. the residual bending strength.
The results were summarized as follows;
1. It is found that orthotropic laminate materials are all increasing lineally between impact energy and damage delamination area.
2. Delamination development energy of CF/EPOXY laminated materals, that is, slope of delamination area by impact energy is lower than that of CF/PEEK (orthotopic laminated materals).
3. CF/EPOXY specimens D of laminated orientation (0°_4/90°_4)_sym. shows that impact damage of impacted-side compression is higher than that of impacted side tension, whereas CF/PEEK specimen P with the same stacking sequences indicates that impact damage of impacted-side tension is higher than that of impacted-side compression, for delamination buckling is generated at delamination area of interface B subjected to compression.
