The contents of science textbooks of Elementary School and Junior High School and the Earth Science textbooks of High School were analyzed and compared with each other as follows:
1) There is interrelationship of the contents of science textbooks of Elementary School and Junior High School, and close relationship is also existing among Physics Ⅰ and Ⅱ, Chemistry Ⅰ and Ⅱ, Biology Ⅰ and Ⅱ, and Geography Ⅰ and Ⅱ of High School.
2) The number of chapters of the science textbook of Elementary School is 11 which is 26% of whole number of chapters.
3) The number of chapters of the science textbook of Junior High School is 4 which is 31% of whole number of chapters
4) The average number of experiments, practices, and observations in the new Earth Science textbooks of High School is 32 as compared with the average number 20.2 in the old ones.
5) There are only two common contents of experiments, practices, and observation in the new four different Earth Science textbooks of High School.
6) Regardless of the new and old Earth Science textbooks of High School, geology is the area dealt the most, and astronomy, meteorogy, Oceanography and other common area are following.
7) With analyzing the problems set during the last 15-year’s the National Uniform Entrance Examination for the universities and colleges, we can see the chapters of the formation of the rock and its transformation has been dealt the most with 18 problems each.
With the above comparisons, this paper is to provide the interrelationship of each textbook and useful information for the improvement of future Earth Science textbooks, and also to give an assistance for experiments, practices, observations, and reserches in this area.
Moreover, this study was intended to understand the future trend of the National Uniform Entrance Examination for the universities and colleges.
