The purpose of this study is to contrast the phonetic features of stop sounds, affricates and fricatives in Japanese and Korean, and to apply to the training of native Korean speakers in spoken Japanese. The materials of this study have resulted from the analysis of phonetic features such as voice bar. spike fill, fills,duration and crossing of sounds, as shown on the pattern of a Sound Spectrogram.
The main study of this thesis is as follows:
1. to contrast phonetic features such as [±voiced], [±aspirated]
and [±tense] of the two languages.
2. to make clear the similarities and differences between Ja-panese and Korean sounds.
3. to seek Japanese sounds which are the nearest to Korean sounds.
4. to study one of the methods of correct listening comprehension and pronunciation in native Korean speakers.
5. to enable the practice of sound training in spoken Japanese by means of this study.
6. to report the result of these experiments in the achievement of training in spoken Japanese.
