On the basis of the preceding researches reporting that it’s possible for elderly women to change the quality of their life through a positive life change on the strength of beauty treatment activity, this study surveyed the influence of general skin management behavior on elderly women’s positive health behavior and the quality of their life, not conforming to taking care of one’s features simply for appearance management.
To this end, this study inquired into the above matter targeting the 70 elderly women living at Dong-gu area, Daegu Metropolitan City as research subjects from July 1 until Aug. 30, 2017. Also, this study set the 20 elderly women, who wished to receive skin care service, as the experimental group, and the remaining 50 persons as the control group. This study conducted 10-time skin care services for, and did a survey of the experimental group of 20 persons, and just did a survey of the control group of 50 persons.
As a result, it was found that the research subjects’ sociodemographic characteristics had an influence on the elderly women’s economic condition, which also had an influence on their health behavior, and even skin health behavior.
In addition, the health-behavioral characteristics of the research subjects were found to have an influence on their mood state, and even sleep behavior, causing an influence on skin health behavior as well.
The research results showed that there was no significant difference in the change of the elderly women’s skin condition, but there was a significant difference in the change of their mood state such as sleeping, self-aware skin health condition, etc. through the 10-time skin care services for the research subjects.
This study hopes that realistic social welfare support could be put into practice by making an approach to general skin management as the form of welfare benefits so that it can have an influence on elderly women’s positive health behavior and become an important element in the change of the quality of their life.
