The purpose of this study was to investigate the information society and Dewey's theory of child education. Dewey's progressive education was substituted with a learning centered curriculum in the 1960's. The learning centered curriculum was substituted with a human centered curriculum in the 1970's. Variable arguments are possible for the reconsideration of Dewey's educational thought but human centered curriculum was strengthened by the experience centered curriculum. In addition, the experience is the core of education. Experience is the element of educational thought that overcomes the limits of the information society. Dewey's teaching method of childhood education has been put together through the eras. The information society made life convenient but immersion in cyber space has brought about negligence for real life. Especially the endurance of the children has been weakened by the moment response. Therefore, we must prepared to solve the harms of the information society. Dewey's child education helps with childhood education in the information society.
The findings of this study were as follows; First, Dewey's child education revealed a solution to a problem that has been taught by indirect methods. Second, Dewey's child education made learners think systematically. He insisted that reflective thinking experiences bring about the optimal method of thought. Third, Dewey's child education helped self-directed learning. He asserted the importance of the mutual act of communication between the teacher and learner. Fourth, Dewey's child education works to increase the motivation to learn. He stressed the interest that contributes to raising the children`s will to learn.
