경찰의 활동이 컨벤션 성과에 미치는 영향 = 신뢰의 매개효과를 중심으로

The scope of police activities in convention is an indispensable factor for success of convention. It was difficult, however, to find researches focused on the “police activities and convention performance”
A study model was set up where police activities worked as an independent variable, being the result of convention as a dependent variable, trust in the police activities as a parameter.
This study was based on the premise that ensuring participants' security is a key factor in success of convention, and that regardless of whether a convention is hosted by government agencies or business companies, the police are in charge of security.
A survey of 278 police officers and employees engaged in the convention industry was conducted to verify the relationships among the variables, and to draw policy implications on the way police activities could promote convention.
Firstly, order maintenance and protection were statistically significant in deciding success of convention and visitors' re-participation. Thus, the hypothesis was accepted. Crime prevention, however, did not affect the result of convention directly, which indicated that the role of the police in convention should be focused on order maintenance for safety.
Secondly, both of crime prevention and order maintenance had a high influence on building trust in the police, which suggested that community policing should be strengthened, and supports from policy objects should be obtained.
Thirdly, trust in the police turned out to be statistically significant for success of convention, but insignificant for re-participation, which confirmed us that police activities in convention should be focused on the support role. Convention planners should passively choose a different police activities depending upon situations.
Although it is a regret that comparative studies with previous work were not done enough. But, I am looking forward that this study will mark the beginning of a various follow-up studies.
