문화콘텐츠 개념 재론再論 = A Review on the Conception of ‘Cultural Contents’

국문 초록 (Abstract)

문화콘텐츠에 관한 학문적 논의가 시작된 지 벌써 10여 년이 지났다. 그럼에도 불구하고 문화콘텐츠는 여전히 ‘형성 중’<SUP>ongoing</SUP>인 개념으로 남아 있다. 이 글은 우선 문화콘텐츠라는 현상의 출현이 산업적 필요와 정책적 지원에 의해 비롯되었으나 이들이 만들어낸 담론만으로는 그 가치가 온전히 구현될 수 없다고 보고, 인문학적 대항 담론의 필요성을 논의하였다. 그 과정에서 국내 인문콘텐츠학회의 설립 당시 상황과 한국문화콘텐츠진흥원 출범 당시의 논의들을 살펴보았다. 다음으로 그 동안 지속되어 온 문화콘텐츠 개념에 관한 논의의 틀을 바꾸어 보고자 하는 시도로서 그것이 분리 가능한 개념이 아니라 ‘문화콘텐츠’라는 단일 개념으로서 간주될 필요가 있다는 조작적 정의를 시도하였다. 단일 개념으로서의 ‘문화콘텐츠’는 때로는 ‘콘텐츠로서의 문화<SUP>culture as contents</SUP>’로, 때로는 ‘콘텐츠화된 문화<SUP>contented culture</SUP>’ 등으로 인식하게 될 수 있다고 보았다. 나아가 ‘문화’를 강조하는 이러한 단일 개념으로서의 ‘문화콘텐츠’는 인간 중심적이어야 하며, 심미적이어야 하고, 대중적이어야 하고, 전통과 현대를 잘 아울러야 한다고 주장하였다. 결론적으로 이 글은 분리 불가능한 단일 개념으로서의 ‘문화콘텐츠’란 “인간 삶의 질적 가치의 제고를 위하여 문화적 전통과 현상을 특정한 매개체를 통하여 현대화<SUP>동시대화</SUP>하는 일련의 행위”라고 정의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

It has already been over 10 years since we started the academic discussion about cultural contents. Nevertheless, the cultural content is still defined as a ‘ongoing’ concept. Firstly, this study argues that the appearance of the phenomenon of ‘cultural contents’ was driven by the policy support and the industry needs, but their discourses can not implement the values entirely, and discusses the need for humanities as a counter discourse. For that, it reviewes the situations and arguments of the establishment of the Human Contents of Association and KOVCCA, South Korea. And then, it tried to change the frame of discourse about the concept of cultural contents. It argued it is not a concept of s separable, and it need to be regarded as a single concept as a operational definition. It also argued that cultural contents as a single concept can be regarded as ‘culture as contents’ or ‘contented culture’. Furthermore, it emphasize the ‘culture’, has to be human centered, aesthetic, popular, and should put together tradition and modernity. In conclusion, this study defines the cultural contents as an inseparable and a single concept is that “A series of actions of modernization or contemporarization the cultural tradition and phenomenon through special medium for improving of the quality of human being’s life.
