융복합 교육 시대에 기초교양교육의 내실화와 제역할 모색 = A Study on the Advancement of the basic liberal education and its Role in convergence and integration time

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 대학에서 기초교양교육은 토양과 뿌리의 역할을 동시에 수행해야 하는 중요한 과제를 떠맡고 있다. 이를 위해 기초교양교육은 많은 노력을 통해 진화를 거듭하고 있고, 급기야는 학부대학에서 융합 교육이라는 목표에 도달하기 위해 온 온갖 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이런 노력을 통해 기초교양교육의 중요성과 필요성에 대한 인식은 어느 정도 확산되어 있는 실정이다.
전공교육을 위한 기초교양교육만으로는 정보사회에서 해결해야 할 문제들은 여러 지식분야에 걸친 복합적인 것들로 이를 총체적으로 조망하는 능력과 통찰을 제공할 수 없다는 새로운 인식으로 인해 대학들은 융복합 교육을 경쟁적으로 도입하고 있다. 이런 분위기에서 기초교양분야에서도 융합 교과목 개발이 시도되고 있다. 이 교과목은 지식을 스스로 창출하고 응용해야 하는 지식산업사회에서는 비판적·창의적 사고 등을 길러주고, 나아가 종합적 사유를 함양시켜야 한다는 시대적 요구에 따른 것이다.
그러나 작금의 융복합 교육을 받아들여야만 하는 대학의 현실에서 기초교양교육의 내실화의 필요성을 한 번 되짚어 보고, 기초교양교육에서 무엇을 어떤방식으로 실행하는 것이 사회적 요구뿐만 아니라 우리 대학 현실의 사태에 부합하는가를 점검해볼 시기에 와있다. 융복합 교육의 문제점을 해소하고 자신의 역할을 제대로 할 수 있기 위해서 기초교양교육은 교육 수요자들의 관심과 현실적 수용능력에 맞춰서 기초교양교육 프로그램을 개발하고 시행해야하는 내실화 요구에 직면해 있다.
본 소고에서 필자는 기초교양교육의 내실화에 기여할 기초교양과목으로 '논리와 사고, 비판적 책읽기, 그리고 학술적 글쓰기'를 연계시킬 수 있는 'LRW 융합적 글쓰기' 교과목 개발을 제안하였다. 이 교과목은 교육 수요자의 요구와 융복합 교육을 위한 기초교양교육의 내실화 요구에 충분히 부합할 수 있을 것이다. 'LRW 융합적 글쓰기'에서 논증력, 비판적 사고력 그리고 문제 해결적 창의력이 배양될 수 있을 것이다. 이런 점에서 'LRW 융합적 글쓰기'는 '전공 연계형 글쓰기', '범교과 글쓰기', 그리고 'PWR 글쓰기'와는 다른 것이다. 이 세 가지 글쓰기 교육 프로그램은 비판적 사고력과 문제 해결력의 배양과 전공 연계성을 목표로 하고 있다. 그와 달리 'LRW 융합적 글쓰기'는 논증 능력과 비판적 사고를 기초로 사태에 맞는 문제 해결력을 함양시키고, 더 나아가 전공 심화 교육과 전인적 교육을 위한 기초능력 형성을 목표로 한다.

This article focuses on seeking the advancement of a basic liberal education and its role in convergence and integration time. Today, a liberal education in university which takes on not only task to form the base for a major education, but also must develop the basic curriculum corresponding to the convergent and integral education, must reflect its role again and find its advancement appropriating a demand of our society and a actual situation of our university. in order to dissolve the points in question the convergent and integral education and carry out its role without impropriety should fulfil the basic liberal education a demand for the advancement that it should develop and carry out basic liberal education programs adjusting a concern of the educational consumers and their real receiving capacity.
In this article submits a proposal a writer 'LRW Convergent Writing' (Logic-Reading-Writing Convergent Writing) as the basic liberal education curriculum that can contribute to the advancement of the basic liberal education. It is a academical writing that ties 'logic and thinking', 'critical reading', and 'professional writing' as a gradational and systematic subject. This subject can match enough up the demand of the educational consumers as well as one for the advancement of the basic liberal education curriculum for corresponding to the convergent and integral education. Through this 'LRW Convergent Writing' can the educational consumers foster the professional capacities in basic dimension such as the argumental capacity, the critical, and creativity for the solving problem.
In this sense, it is differentiated with 'the Writing linked major', 'the all subject Writing', and 'PWR Writing' that are applied already in a basic liberal education. This three writing models focuses on linking the critical capacity and the capacity solving problem with the major education. Differently from that, 'LRW Convergent Writing' aims to teach first of all the argumental capacity and the critical, and to foster 'the capacity solving problem' suited to the subject matter on the base of both, and further form the basic capacity for the deepen of the major education and the whole-person education.
