기획논문 : 「리기선후유무변(理氣先後有無辨)」을 통해서 본 허채(許埰)의 성이학(性理學) = Vol.32 : A Study on Heo Chae`s Sung Confucianism through Igiseonhuyumubyeon

국문 초록 (Abstract)

허채는 조선 말기 허전과 이종기의 문하에서 수학한 성리학자이다. 허채의 사승은 허전을 통해서는 정구로부터 시작된近畿南人의 학맥으로 이어지고 있고, 또 이종기룰 통해서는 비록 직접적인 사승은 아니라지만 유치명 계열의 퇴계학 맥과 연결되고 있다. 이 두 계열은 어느 쪽으로든 강한 주리적 특징을 보여준다. 그럼에도 불구하고 허채는 ``주리적`` 이고 보기 어려운 성리학적 특징을 보여 주기도 하는데, 그와 같은 특징은 그의 잡저 가운데 하나인 「리기선후유무변」에서 비교적 선명하게 드러나고 있다. 이 논문은 『금주선생문집』 가운데 주자학의 핵심 쟁점 가운데 하나인 ``리기선후`` 문제를 다루고 있는 「리기선후유우변」을 주요 분석의 대상으로 삼아 먼저 주자학과 ``리기선후`` 의 문제가 어떻게 연관되어 있는지를 살펴보고, 다음으로 「리기선후유무변」의 내용을 분석 해 봄으로써 허채의 성리학이 어떤 특징을 가지고 있으며, 이러한 특징을 가진 그의 성리학이 조선후기 성리학사 혹은 학파의 전개와 흐름에 있어서 어떤 위치에 있는지 그 좌표를 설정해 보는 데 목적이 있다. ``리기선후`` 문제를 통해 확인되는 허채의 성리학은 바로 후기 퇴계학파의 이진상계열과 같은 지나친 리 중심의 흐름에 대한 반동에서 시작되었다고 이해된다. 그리고 ``리기선후`` 문제와 관련하여 이렇게 허채의 성리학을 이해할 때, 19세기 후반 밀양과 고령, 성주 등 강우지역 성리학이 예상했던 것보다 더욱 다양 한 모습으로 전개되었음을 확인할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Heo Chae was a Sung Confucian scholar that studied under Heo Jeon and Lee Jong-gi in late Joseon. His Sanseung was later connected to the academic tradition of Geunginamin that was commenced by Jeong Cu through Heo Jeon and to the academic tradition of Toigye of Yu Chi-myeong line through Lee Jong-gi in the form of indirect Saseung. The two lines show strong Jun features in any direction, despite which, however, Heo Chae had Sung Confucian features that were hardly "Juri" Those features of his are manifested in Igiseonhuyumubyeon, one of his sundry writings relatively clearly. With a focus on Igiseonhuyumubyeon, which deals with the issue of "Igiseonhu," one of the core controversial issues of Zhuxi Studies in Geumjuseonsaengmunjip, this study investigated how Zhuxi Studies was connected to the issue of "Igiseonhu" and analyzed the content of Igiseonhuyumubyeon to figure out the characteristics of Heo Chae`s Sung Confucianism and the coordinates of his Sung Confucianism in the development and flow of Sung Confucian history and school in late Joseon. JudGing from the findings around the issue of "Igiseonhu," Heo Chae`s Sung Confucianism seems to have started in reaction to the heavily Li-inclined flow including the Lee Jin-sang line of late Toigye school. Understanding of Heo Chae`s Sung Confucianism in respect of the issue of "Igiseonhu" in that way helps to confirm that Sung Confucianism of the Gangwoo region including Milyang, Goryeong, and Seongju developed in more various aspects than expected in the latter half of the 19th century.
