일부 노인의 구강상태와 저작능력 비교연구 = A Study of Comparative the Chewing Ability and Oral Health Status of some Elderly People

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Purpose : The objective of the present study was to investigate the of the based on their oral health status and present the findings as basic data for establishing future oral health related policies for the elderly.
Methods : A total of 50 elderly participants were selected for the study. Oral examinations were performed by a single trained dental hygienist, with the oral health status classified as use of dentures, presence of temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) noise, presence of TMJ pain, presence of trismus, presence of preferred chewing, and number of residual teeth. Oral health related survey was conducted by 2 dental hygienists as an in-person interview, while 30 types of foods were selected for assessment of chewing ability. As the analysis methods, Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman’s rho analysis were performed to investigate the association between oral health status and chewing ability.
Result :The results in the present study showed that there was a statistically significant positive (+) correlation between the number of residual teeth and chewing abilities. In other words, as the number of residual teeth increased, chewing ability increased as well, with the differences being statistically significant.
Conclusion : Improvement of oral health in the elderly is a fundamental aspect of healthy aging. Therefore, more efficient policies on oral health in the elderly need to be implemented as entry into a super-aged society nears.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

연구 목적 : 본 연구는 일부지역 노인의 구강상태에 따른 저작관련성을 알아보고자 하였으며, 향후 노인들의 구강건강과 관련된 구강보건정책수립에 기초자료로 제시하고자 한다.
연구방법 : 본 연구는 50명의 노인들을 대상으로 하였으며, 구강검사는 훈련되어진 치과위생사 1명이 구강상태의 틀니착용 여부, 악관절 소리 여부, 악관절 통증 여부, 개구장애 여부, 편측저작 여부, 잔존치아수로 측정하였다. 또한 구강관련 설문조사는 치과위생사 2명이 저작능력은 30가지 음식의 저작능력 평균으로 음식 강도별 저작능력을 면접조사 하였다. 분석방법은 구강상태와 저작능력의 관련성을 확인을 위해 Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman의 Rho 분석을 실시하였다.
연구결과 : 일반적 특성과 음식강도별 저작능력을 비교해본 결과, 가족형태에 따라 음식강도별 저작능력에 차이가 나타났으며, 통계적으로 유의하였다. 잔존치아 수와 저작 음식강도는 통계적으로 유의한 양(+)의 상관관계를 나타냈다. 즉 잔존치아수가 증가할 때 저작능력이 증가하며 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다.
결 론 : 초고령화 사회의 진입을 앞둔 시점에서 노인의 구강건강을 위한 보다 효율적인 정책이 시행되어야 할 것이다.
