      Philosophical foundation of vocational education and relationship between vocational education and general education has been treated by auther early this year.
      This time, types of vocational education and types of it's schools and classes, basic elements of it's curricular, and administration of vocational education in vocational high school education were found out in principle in this paper. And they are compared with real aspects of vocational high school education in Korea.
      In this treatment, "Principles of Vocational Education" by Frankline J. Keller was used as a principal axis and given some comments on the actual problems in our vocational high school education.
      1. Types of vocational education and types of vocational schools and classes in the high school level.
      There are three kinds of vocational high schools in America. They are devided into ;
      ① day schools and classes
      ② part-time schools and classes
      ③ evening schools and classes as three principal types prevailed.
      But day schools only prevail in Korea. Let alone some comercial high schools and industrial high schools. Therefore it is considered our vocational high school is too much simple compared to American's. That is the very demerit of our vocational high school education. There might, afterward, be consideration of more plenty of evening schools and classes or part-time schools and classes for the members of students and employees who want to change and get progress or promotion.
      2. The cardinal elements of vocational education programs are represented as follows;
      ① multiple programs for students' variety interests.
      ② vocational guidance program.
      ③ shop work for work experience and specific vocational skills.
      ④ theory and related knowledge.
      ⑤ general education
      ⑥ ethical character for better social relationship
      ⑦ health and mental fitness.
      ⑧ fine arts.
      In this matter, our vocational high school curricular meets those elements successfully, even though it is lacking in vocational guidance program. So vocational guidance program must be inserted in our vocational high school curricular to meet and assist the individual to choose an occupation, to prepare for it,to enter upon and progress in it.
      3. Administration in vocational education.
      Federal board for vocational education as well as local one was established as an independent administrative agency in America. But there is no independent administrative agency and any advisory board or committee in Korea. Therefore it might be established in a short time to build vocational education upon a sound basis, on account of characteristics of vocational education.
      First of all, shop work requires 50% of all school hours on the basis of Smith-Hughes Acts approved in 1917. So, other 25% of them are for vocational sub jects, and therest 25% of them are for general education. But in Korea,50% of all school hours are used for vocational subjects and shop work.Accordingly it is important to lift the ratio of vocational subjects and shop works to general education as equal level to America.
