Most control systems for boilers, turbines and generators, which are the main components of thermal power plants, consist of imported different types of platforms in South Korea. To improve the control efficiency and convenience of maintenance, an integrated monitoring and control system which is based on a single platform, has been developed in South Korea since 2007. The functional verification for the developed prototype product is an indispensable item in the development process, and it is one of the steps to make a brand new control system. In this paper, we introduce the key design specifications and functions of the integrated controller for controlling and monitoring boilers, turbines and generators. We also present the test results, procedures and methods of inspection for the prototype control system to meet the design specifications.
