The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of subjective health status on suicidal ideation among older adults and the serial multiple mediating effects of social isolation and depression in these relationships. Data on 9,646 older adults ≥ 65 years from the 2020 National Elderly Survey of the Korea Ministry of Health & Welfare. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and PROCESS macro 4.1((Model 6). The followings are results of the study. First, the direct effect of subjective health status on the suicidal ideation was not significant among older adults(B=-0.02, p=.233). Second, social isolation completely mediated the effect of subjective health status on suicidal ideation(B=0.002, bootstrap 95% CI=.001-.003). Third, depression completely mediated the effect of subjective health status on suicidal ideation(B=0.004, bootstrap 95% CI=.003-.006). Forth, serial multiple mediating effects of social isolation and depression were significant in the relationship between subjective health status and suicidal ideation(B=0.001, bootstrap 95% CI=.001-.002). The results of the study provide valuable foundational data for intervening in the suicidal risk of the older adults and implementing preventative measures.
