The research aim of the paper is to investigate air suspension characteristics. The mathematical model of the air suspension is established at first. An then, the semi-active hybrid control air suspension is developed by using fuzzy control algorithm. According to the vehicle body acceleration, this fuzzy controller adjusts the orifice opening area so as to change the air spring stiffness in certain range. At the same time, the suspension damping is controlled, depending on suspension motion state. The simulation results indicate that the semi-active hybrid control air suspension can achieve the best ride comfort quality, without losing road holding ability and increasing suspension working space.
