논문 : 생태신학자 빙엔의 힐데가르트 = Hildegard of Bingen, an Ecological Theologian

국문 초록 (Abstract)

생태와 환경의 문제는 현재 지구적인 문제이다. 당면한 문제에 대하여 종교계들도 서둘러 해법을 내놓고 있는 실정에서 본 소고는 그리스도교 역사 속에서 그 어떤 인물보다 자연친화적이었던 중세의 여성 신학자 빙엔의 힐데가르트와 그녀의 창조 줌심적 자연관을 소개한다. 힐데가르트의 창조 중심적 자연관은 첫째 모든 피조물이 서로 연관되어 있다는 사고로 나타난다. 그녀에 있어서 피조물들은 상호 연결 되어 유지되며 인간 역시 피조물인 자연과 괴리되어 존재할 수도 유지될 수도 없다. 이러한 힐데가르트의 사고는 피조물과 육체에 대하여 존경과 긍정적인 태도로 묘사되고 있다. 둘째 이 중세의 여신학자는 세계를 정적인 면보다 동적인 면을 강조하여 바라보고 있다. 그녀는 여러 비유들을 통하여 자신의 동적 세계관을 표현하였다. 마지막으로 힐데가르트에 있어서 가장 특별한 개념은 녹색생명의 힘(viriditas)인 바 힐데가르트는 이 용어를 신의 속성으로 묘사하면서 자연만물을 관통하여 흐르는 건강한 생기로 서술하고 있다. 결론적으로 힐데가르트의 자연관과 신학은 인간과 자연의 통합과 조화를 강조하고 있다고 해도 무방할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Today, the crisis of ecology and environment is a global issue. This study has probed into life and works of an environmental-friendly women mystic in the history of Christianity, Hildegard of Bingen. As a result of this study, theology of Hildegard focused on creation rather than salvation. Her creation centered theology has the following characteristics. First of all, Hildegard emphasized on the very interconnectedness of creatures including human beings. All creatures could not exist or keep their identity without others. For her, everything is to be related. Secondly, by dint of several metaphors such as living light, blazing fire, music or melodics, Hildegard demonstrated her kinetic world view. Finally, Hildegard introduced the most specific concept, viriditas which can be read as vitality, greenness, fecundity, fertility, and fruitfulness. Considering it as an attribute of God, she delineated viriditas as healthy power or force penetrating creatures. In conclusion, it is suffice to say that Hildegard`s theology on nature is more wholistic and harmonic than any other medieval male thinkers.
