Mental Map과 Space Syntax를 활용한 가로환경 과 공간인지의 연관성 분석 - 신촌, 홍대, 왕십리 대학가 지역을 중심으로 = Analysis on the Relationship between Street Environment and Spatial Cognition Using Mental Map and Space Syntax - Focused on the University Districts of Sinchon, Hongdae and Wangsimni Areas in Seoul, Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzed the relationship between Kevin Lynch’s components of city image as well as spatial configuration of the case study area and university students’ spatial cognition on streets, using the case study of university districts in Seoul, Korea. The analytical data were obtained through a questionnaire survey and a field survey from university students. The primary methods included mental map, space syntax, and negative binomial regression model. The results of this study are as follows. First, this study confirmed that Kevin Lynch’s components of city image and spatial configuration of a case study area were significant factors affecting the respondents’ spatial cognition on streets. Second, the brand shop density, which includes commercial land uses on streets, was a significant factor influencing respondents’ spatial cognition on streets. Also, this study identified that the effect of the brand shop on spatial cognition was different according to the type of commercial uses. Food and beverage and retail facilities, which had frequent visits compared to other commercial uses, were closely associated with the respondents’ spatial cognition on streets. Finally, the total integration of a space syntax variable was significant in all models, confirming the importance of the topological structure of the case study areas in respondents’ spatial cognition on streets.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 서울시에 위치하고 있는 대학가를 사례지역으로 선정하여, 케빈 린치의 도시 이미지구성요소와 사례지역의 공간구조가 대학생들의 가로 공간 인지에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석 자료는 사례지역 대학생을 대상으로 설문조사와 현상조사를 통해 구득하였다. 분석방법은 멘탈맵, 공간구문론, 그리고 음이항 회귀분석모형을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 케빈 린치가 제시한 도시 이미지 구성 요소와 가로공간의 물리적 환경이 응답자들의 가로 인지에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인임을 확인하였다. 둘째, 가로공간에 형성되어 있는 상업시설인 브랜드 상점 밀도는 도시 이미지 구성 요소와 더불어 가로 인지에 영향을 미치는 가장유의한 요인으로 나타났다. 또한, 상업시설의 업종에 따라 응답자들의 공간인지에 미치는 영향이상이함을 확인하였다. 다른 업종에 비해 방문횟수가 잦은 식음료 및 소매 업종들이 가로 인지와밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 공간구문론 변수인 전체 통합도는 모든 모형에서 유의하게 나타나 가로 공간 인지에서 가로의 위상학적 구조의 중요성을 확인하였다.
